The US has had to admit to some casualties in Jordan, 2 dead, one missing which means 3 dead and unspecified “wounded”, some of whom will likely die later, but not be registered as KIA to keep numbers down. Remember when the death toll was just 13? Now the official number is well over 400 and unofficially 700 to 800.

CENTCOM’s constant propaganda efforts – lies and a blanket refusal to even to acknowledge Iranian claims which later too often turn out to be true-- must, you would think, undermine the confidence of the American public – in Trump’s absurd and of course criminal war.

But the US is a bubble world. A bubble economy. A bubble society in a bubble universe.

American credibility died long ago.

Murder by Media….

Propaganda creates a bubble of belief.

It only works:

a.) for the country that produces it, and in vassal states using its media

b.) when the country that produces it is winning

Will Trump escalate?

That would be crazy. But it is likely. Right now the focus is on Southern Iraq with bombing and missile strikes to reduce Iran’s ability to strike using drones and cruise missiles at tankers using the Oman coastline to exit.

But Iran is now using mines — including “smart” mines to hit tankers instead.

As I wrote before, there are many kinds of mines and Iran is a leader in the field.

The trouble with conventional mines is always the clean-up after there is no need for them, although they can be programmed to self destruct after a certain amount of time .

Of course, Iran has lots of very effective mines. .

The straits were probably not mined before — but with the US strikes— all bets are off.

“Smart” mines are ever so effective.

So, Iran can now stop traffic through Hormuz as needed.

The Maham series mines sit on the seabed and trigger based on a ship’s unique magnetic, acoustic, or pressure signatures— which, of course, makes traditional minesweeping just too dangerous.

Removal for the US would involve a slow, highly technical step-by-step process to carve out “safe corridors”

• Before any mines can be removed, they must be located

• MH-53E Sea Dragon helicopters could be employed using airborne laser systems but those only scan the upper water column for drifting or tethered mines.

  

• Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (UUVs) that dive to the seafloor use high-frequency AI-driven sonarto map the seabed, flagging anomalies that match the shape of Iranian smart mines –but there are inevitably a lot of natural anomalies creating false positives.

• Once a smart mine is identified and logged, small, remote-controlled underwater vehicles like the Archerfish or the single-sortie Barracuda swim directly up to the mine, look at it via video feed to confirm it and detonate a built-in shaped charge, destroying both itself and the mine.

To carry out these operations, the US needs to use naval assets like Guided-Missile Destroyers to provide air defense and electronic warfare protection for the slow-moving de-mining crews against potential swarm attacks.. But that creates a new problem because these vessels also become targets for drones and cruise missiles and of course can trigger mines if they get too close

The US strikes on Bandar Abas and environs are unlikely to have affected Iran’s ability to launch cruise missiles or drones or fire missiles from its mosquito fleet.

All that means Iran can keep Hormuz closed as along as it wants.

At the same time, Iran has upped the ante against the GCC states, striking power facilities, oil production, and desalination plants.

The US at this point cannot launch a major campaign against Iran without Israeli help. But the IDF should be loathe to try that since it would trigger massive strikes on Israel.

At this point, however, Iran’s main weapon is economic.

Oil shock = energy crisis.

And what do the AI need more than anythings - cheap energy.

If you look at the video above, however, it is clear that China has already won.

Yet, President Trump signed executive orders directing agencies like the Department of Energy (DOE) to designate AI data centers as “critical defense facilities” and prioritize the nuclear reactors powering them as defense critical electric infrastructure.

The DOE announced a $17.5 billion loan program to accelerate the construction of 10 large legacy nuclear reactors by 2030, with a target to quadruple total U.S. nuclear capacity by 2050.

The administration has worked to gut regulatory requirements, halving licensing times for advanced nuclear reactors to spur the deployment of both large legacy plants and next-generation Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) near data center sites.

To bypass long grid-connection delays, major tech companies—such as Microsoft and Google—are signing long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) to restart mothballed reactors, including units at Three Mile Island.

What could go wrong?

Problems?

Recent nuclear builds in the US have been years late and billions over budget.

Completing the designs by 2030 is possible, but producing commercial electricity from them by that year is improbable. Think: 2040 or later.

The aggressive push for rapid approval and relaxed safety rules under the Nuclear Regulatory Commission will compromise public trust and result in all kinds of pushback.

And:

The power generated is not for public use - only for the AI giants!

After a while burden for ordinary people is too much.

Now factor in the possibility of that long overdue crash to end crashes. Want to know why it will happen?

Just read the WSJ and watch CNN, the media telling you that the US is doing fine and AI will save us all! The more they predict “growth”, the sooner the end comes.

Can Russia, China and Iran Profit?

Let us remember that the Russia and China and Iran will not be affected by a US crash as much as the US vassal states, especially Europe.

It is perhaps no coincidence that Russia is using the term “SVO’ less and talking more about the “war” with NATO and Ukraine as though the two were one, while blitzing Kiev and Ukrainian ports in the Black Sea.

Kiev helps —with strikes on civilian centers giving Russia cause. It is, among other things, a message to NATO and the US to not even think about militarizing the Black Sea or causing trouble in the Baltics.

Just like Iran, Russia has built up a huge supply of advanced drones and missiles .

I love this. But I would point out that:

a.) the 2020 election was not “stolen”.

As I predicted at that time, the election was a tossup since there was little difference between Trump and Biden - both fuckups. So the margin in the end would be close. Which it was -- just over 4% and down to 1% in “swing states”, which accounts for people like Larry J maintaining the election was “stolen”.

Stolen? Nope.

In 2016, which I also predicted accurately, third party candidates took (overall) just over 6 % of the vote, with lower turnout than in 2020 when third party candidates took just over 1%. That benefited the Democrats .

In addition, there was COVID which discouraged older Trump voters from braving the polls but encouraged younger voters on the Dem side to use mail-in ballots. About 32% of Republicans voted by mail, compared to 60% of Democrats.

Overall voter turnout was higher but this does not actually favor either side. Trump lost in 2020 but the Republicans gained seats in the House.

• 2016 Election: 39% youth turnout.

• 2020 Election: 50% youth turnout (a modern record).

Joe Biden won young voters by 24 points.

So, there were a lot of factors influencing the outcome in 2020, just as there were in 2016.

But in 2016, I saw them giving Trump a slight edge in “swing states” (not popular vote). In 2020, I saw that edge diminishing in the swing states. In 2016 Clinton won the popular vote by 2.09%.but still lost thanks to Trump’s edge in the Swing States.

That’s an analytic response focusing on the still ongoing debate about 2020, which people like Larry Johnson bring up.

But my quibbles are not really relevant to YOUR argument, Bob, which focuses on Trump’s new narrative broadcast in a nationally televised speech from the White House, redirecting blame for his 2020 loss to “foreign” adversaries, principally the Chinese but also the Russians and a host of others, including one supposes aliens from Tau Ceti.

Accusations

• Massive Data Theft:

  The Chinese government executed “the largest compromise of election data in history,” allegedly hacking and acquiring 220 million American voter files containing names, addresses, and political party affiliations.

• Counterfeit Ballots

  Beijing “manufactured illegal ballots for Joe Biden” to manipulate the final count.

• The Motive:

  Xi Jinping wanted a Biden victory to avoid tariffs and a strengthened American military.

• Deep State Cover-up:

  Rogue factions within the FBI and U.S. intelligence agencies hid the facts to damage Trump’s presidency.

Proof?

US elections are controlled at the State level, so Trump could not have done anything to ensure a fairer election system. As you say, the buck never stops at a President’s desk. No presider, presides.

Rather, I think the point is that elevation of presidents to any level of competence much less to the status of putative emperors is silliness. No American President has risen even close to Caligula (sorry Pepe Escobar) -- only to the level of his horse.

Or shall we just say Americans vote for the Horse’s Ass.

Nipped that in the bud. Maybe Canada which is now using wildfires to smoke up the northern states, which Larry Johnson does the same to Florida with his cigars.

Of course, Dr. Bob is correct in an absolute sense which is why many philosophers from the ancient Greeks to the present day have argued that elections, even in the best “liberal democracies” are fraudulent — they are used by elites to legitimize their dominance while maintaining the fictions of the status quo—the “people” too easily manipulated, through fear or crisis to voluntarily vote away their rights.

So yes, every election IS stolen!

I have essentially recognized this point in multiple occasions in the long articles that are available for coffee buyers.

It’s now Friday night. And things have changed.

Trump carried through on his warnings to strike infrastructure - bridges, rail, and power facilities, although the attacks appeared limited to Southern Iran, presumably to inhibit supply of munitions from central Iran. That is unlikely to be effective.

Attacks included:

• Bandar Khamir, an important overpass connecting Bandar Abbas to Lar. There were cars on the bridge during the attack, leaving at least 1 dead and several injured.

• Gariveh Bridge, at least 1 dead and several others injured.

• A railway station, west of Bandar Abbas, the point where the railway connects to the passenger and freight lines of Shahid Rajaei port, and the Bandar Abbas railway wee also bombed — 2 injuries so far.

• a telecommunications tower in Bandar Abbas, resulting in damage to several nearby residential buildings, killing and injuring civilians.

• a civilian airport in Iranshahr, in southeastern Iran.

Iran has built up weapons are now mostly in hardened shelters in the South, anticipating the US acting on its threats—telegraphing its punches, as it were. But people died and the damage will cost at least $60 billion to repair.

The attacks really serve only to harden Iranian resolvettheu. .

Somebody is going to pay.

And Iran responded…..

• Kuwait:

  Iranian forces targeted radar stations, Patriot defense systems, and fuel tanks at the Ali Al Salem airbase.

• Bahrain:

  Drones and missiles targeted U.S. Super Hawk radars and Patriot systems at the Sheikh Isa airbase, triggering alarms across the country.

• Jordan:

  The Jordanian military said it intercepted multiple Iranian missiles aimed at U.S. facilities, but it failed — they all hit.

• Qatar & Iraq:

  Missiles and drones targeted major U.S. installations, including the Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar and the Ain Al Asad Air Base in Iraq.

• Syria:

  The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed strikes on the U.S. s base in al-Tanf destroying a radar, helicopters, and killing US troops.

Tit for Tat

Al Tanf is interesting because the US handed it over to HTS in February . CENTCOM now has no presence there. The likelihood, however, is that there would have been a radar and helicopters, and personnel to man them.

It wasn’t the usual HTS crazies who confiscated a shipment of weapons bound for Hezbollah in the area recently . The specialized units patrolling the sensitive Al-Tanf border zone are comprised of U.S.-trained Syrian personnel—all vetted, equipped, and trained by the American military garrison at Al-Tanf to perform high-level counter-terrorism, border interdiction, and anti-smuggling operations. So American troops left — but the American presence lingers!

It’s confusing

We know that Jolani lies. We know that CENTCOM lies. And, of course, Iran can, too. But so far Tehran’s claims in the war have been mostly born out by evidence. It gets things wrong sometimes but it doesn’t usually out and out lie. That’s an American things.

The probability, however, that when the IRBC bombed this base, it was being used for something to support the US war effort

We can ignore CENTCOM — a fine collection of media whores.

sCENTCOM has ignored the hit on the King Fahd Causeway— as well as extensive photographic evidence of powerful strikes on US bases .

So, there are a lot of contradictions which feed OSINT propaganda and Twitter rumors and earn clicks for podcasters. But one thing is clear — if the US continues to escalate, then Iran will also . It will share the pain with its GCC neighbors —and also with the Western economies. If the US strikes vital civilian infrastructure, then Iran can take out GCC powerplants and desalination plants and strike refineries.

And the Houthis can close the Bab el Mandeb Strait.

That’s the Nuclear Option.

A simultaneous closure of the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab el-Mandeb would trigger the most severe energy crisis in modern history, likely driving crude oil prices well past $150 to $200+ per barrel within days.

The Strait of Hormuz handles roughly 20% of global petroleum liquids consumption (~20 million barrels per day).

Closing both routes instantly traps nearly one-quarter of the world’s daily oil supply, and spot prices for Brent and WTI crude would experience an immediate, unprecedented spike—a baseline jump to $150/bbl, with immediate risk of soaring past $200/bbl if the closures last more than a few weeks.

Diesel, gasoline, and jet fuel prices would skyrocket .

Normally, Saudi Arabia can bypass the Strait of Hormuz by pumping oil via its East-West Crude Pipeline to the Red Sea port of Yanbu, but tankers leaving Yanbu could not head south toward Asia, and heading north through the Suez Canal would only supply Europe, stranding the rest.

Almost all oil tankers would be forced to reroute around Africa, adding 10 to 14 days travel time, depleting global shipping capacity, and skyrocketing freight insurance rates.

A prolonged shutdown would trigger a massive wave of global stagflation, forcing central banks to hold interest rates high.

The U.S. and International Energy Agency (IEA) nations would be forced into an emergency, coordinated release of their Strategic Petroleum Reserves (SPR) to stabilize local refineries. Many nations in Europe and Asia would have to implement emergency fuel-rationing .

Even if closure was not complete, insurers would refuse to cover ships in these waters due to active combat, with the same effect as an actual military blockade.

Economic Armageddon!

US Propaganda Seeks to Create Wedge Between Russia and China with “Junior Partner” Narrative

▪️The US & Europe in their current form will reject cooperation and coexistence with China because the West insists on its “inherent superiority” and primacy coupled with deep, historic racism against China and other non-white nations;

▪️The US hopes to find and exploit similar mindsets inside Russia and create a narrative that insists Russia has been “subordinated” to China;

▪️Back in reality, China is bigger than the US, Europe & Russia combined, has the largest most advanced industrial base on Earth, & Russia is simply being realistic recognizing & respecting this - even embracing the benefits of being allies with such a nation- something the West is incapable of;

▪️China’s foreign policy is one of cooperation and coexistence, making it even easier for Russia to do so;

▪️Those who cannot accept this are people incapable of accepting reality & should be moved away from positions of power/policy makering;

The consensus among Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) networks, defense analysts, and think tanks is that China’s “new Third Front” is an official, highly structured national strategy to prepare the country for a prolonged “worst-case scenario” .

Currently, China’s economic engines and tech hubs are concentrated along the highly vulnerable eastern coast so the objective is to build a protected inland reserve of critical industrial and military capacity deep within the Chinese interior (e.g., Sichuan, Gansu, and Chongqing). And moving strategic supply chains inland,

While the old Third Front focused heavily on heavy manufacturing and raw munitions, the “new” iteration is focused on tech-sovereignty. Including rapid relocation and duplication of semiconductor, AI, and advanced manufacturing infrastructure into western provinces.

OSINT data tracking commodity flows shows a massive acceleration in food, energy, and raw materials within inland hubs.

Experts from organizations like the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) and independent researchers observe that this policy directly aligns with China’s sharp drop in foreign arms dependencies and its push for total self-sufficiency.

This focus on militarization is mirrored by some academics in Russia and commentators there who talk a lot about the “New Great Wall” although a lot of that died down after Putin’s visit with Xi.

The Kremlin itself uses terms like” Strategic Rear Base” when talking about Chinese defense — an admirable move by Beijing to build an impenetrable defense against the United States, ensuring that if Washington blockades China’s coast, the country can still operate from its rear.”

Otherwise it is “Internal Circulation Infrastructure” (Инфраструктура внутреннего цикла): a logical, non-threatening step toward economic viability and development.

The Chinese themselves use the term “Great Wall”—but metaphorically. There is not one but several — the “Great Firewall” of course, the “Steel Great Wall”, which is military; the “Green Great Wall”—ecological Economic?

“Economic Great Wall”? The chinese don’t use “wall” in this case which implies cutting themselves off from something.

Rather, they use “Economic Powerhouse, It is the West that is always talking about walls.

“Third Front “ is taboo , to the extent that it reflects a different era and the politics of the USSR. It only appears in academic discussions, usually in English, like a somewhat obtuse and contradictory article circulating now in Russian millyblogger circles.

Such articles reflect OSINT and Western academe, rather than the realistic views of Vladimir Putin—although the title mercifully says “New Great Wall” rather than “New Third Front”.

Of course, the Russians love to argue and ‘analyze” — at all levels of society, which makes Russia in some respect open to the Western misinformation in the Information Space.

As to defense, Russian consensus is that Xi Jinping is building facilities in the Chinese hinterland to maintain a credible, un-blockadable fallback option that effectively neutralizes military leverage from any other country. Unlike Mao’s Third Front, these defenses include all of China, including Tibet and Xinjiang, although these regions still enjoy special status

Western OSINT analysts scratch their heads. There is an image in their little minds. And the intellectual lice itch

They counter that this initiative is being executed as an excuse to upgrade national mobilization laws, expand civil defense protocols (like the “people’s air defense” systems), and restructure military draft regulations to shift China onto a permanent, resilient wartime footing. To make it somehow like the West.

The US’s “third front” is the entire world.

OSINT as propaganda space.

Is OSINT really “open”? . Yes, certainly to narratives spun by the CIA and MI6.

These narratives are like doors —they open only to certain rooms. You never get to see the whole house, though.

Manipulation of OSINT with memes like Russia as the “junior partner” for Russian partners to

a.) undermine confidence in China’s good intentions

b) provoke resentment, if not jealousy

c.) revive memories of Mao’s Third Front, which was partly protection against the USSR.

At the same time, of course, ‘the Third Front” is seen as a move China is taking to protect itself against what the West thinks is the vulnerability of China’s coastline against US and Japanese forces.

US thinktanks show the US winning at great cost — but still winning. The Pentagon’s own analyses show the US losing badly in just a few weeks.

Another Wall— the Pacific

China has another wall — the Pacific Wall.

The US brays constantly about “militarization” – which turns on the notion of China as a totalitarian state dominated by military objectives –ummm….like the United States?

As a result, a lot of milly bloggers, even those on the Russian side, but who base their analyses on a combination of Western sources, Russian sources, and OSINT have been speculating that some version of the CIA/ MI6’s various narratives might have some truth to it.

Nope.

First of all, Russia is in no way a “junior partner” . Yes, Russia relies on the Chinese for some things – recently semiconductors, for example. But China needs Russia for energy, and certain aspects of military technology where it lags And it wants Russia’s as an ally in keeping Japan and South Korea in check.

This Western narrative is typical because in the West, the kind of collaboration you see between Russia and China is impossible to conceive.

According to Xi Jinping’s speeches, official party resolutions, and the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030), developing the “National Strategic Hinterland” is driven by a domestic blueprint to shift China toward a high-quality, citizen-centric economy.

Xi frames the relocation of industries and resources to the south and west around four major economic and social objectives designed to directly improve the lives of the Chinese people: [

1. Achieving “Common Prosperity” by Closing the Wealth Gap

For decades, China’s economic boom was heavily concentrated along the eastern coast, leaving the western and southwestern hinterlands economically isolated.

• High-Value Job Creation: Xi’s initiative deliberately relocates advanced manufacturing, tech hubs, and AI infrastructure deep into provinces like Sichuan and Guizhou.

• The Goal: This provides millions of high-skilled, well-paying tech and industrial jobs directly to rural and inland populations. It allows inland residents to achieve a middle-class lifestyle without migrating thousands of miles to coastal megacities.

2. Overcoming “Involution” Through Quality Growth

Chinese society has been plagued by “involution” (neijuan)—destructive, hyper-competitive academic and corporate cycles occurring in saturated coastal markets.

• New Economic Frontiers: By pouring state resources into building new tech and green-energy ecosystems in the west, the state is actively creating a geographic relief valve.

• The Goal: Xi positions this as a transition toward “New Quality Productive Forces“. This model prioritizes sustainable innovation, technological self-reliance, and tech-sovereignty over low-margin sweatshop labor, creating a healthier, more balanced work environment for the next generation.

3. Creating a Green and “Ecological Civilization”

Xi has heavily integrated the development of the hinterlands with his environmental agenda, leveraging the natural topography of the west for green transformation.

• Clean Energy Expansion: The southwestern highlands are the core anchors for China’s massive solar, wind, and hydro-energy grids.

• The Goal: Under initiatives like “East Data, West Computing,” dirty industrial practices are phased out. It builds a cleaner living environment for inland citizens while providing sustainable power to elevate their local quality of life.

4. Anchoring the “Convenient Living Circle” and Consumption Economy

Under the revised “Dual Circulation” strategy, the Chinese government has officially elevated domestic consumer consumption into a vital strategic priority.

• Inland Infrastructure: The massive expansion of high-speed rail, modernized logistics hubs, and advanced agriculture in the interior is designed to robustly tie local economies together.

• The Goal: Xi’s stated objective is to establish urban-rural “convenient living circles”. This guarantees that citizens living deep in the interior have identical access to fresh produce, modern healthcare, high-quality public education, and digital services as those living in Shanghai or Beijing.

In short, according to Xi’s official narrative, building up the hinterlands is the structural foundation required to transition China from a “factory of the world” into a balanced, green, self-sustaining society where the fruits of modernization are equally distributed.

These also happen to be Russia’s goals. Not war— but a better life .

I like Patrick Lawrence personally and have corresponded with him. Nice guy. I regard him as intelligent, well-educated, and open-minded. He is also an excellent writer, with that elusive quality called “style’, which I admire.

The U.S. was conceived initially as a tellurocratic (continental) empire but with an eye to becoming a thalassocratic empire eventually — assuredly.

The founding fascists even described the new nation as the “infant empire” (Washington, 1786, in letter to Lafayette)

So the capitalist coup that Americans call the “Revolutionary War” established the base tellurocratic empire as the original thirteen “colonies”.

It wasn’t long at all before the imperial project went into high gear. Even if we accept 1776 (rather than the end of the war or the signing of the Constitution) as the “birth” of the U.S.A., it was in 1803 that Jefferson (#3, Democrat-Republican) completed the Louisiana Purchase — a mere 27 years in — which doubled the size of the infant empire.

Doubled. In one generation.

Just sixteen years later — in 1819 — Spain ceded Florida to the U.S. via the Adams-Onis Treaty. That was James Monroe (#5, Democratic-Republican).

Then twenty-six years passed. In 1845, the US annexed Texas, which started the Mexican-American War. Pay no attention to the propaganda: the U.S. started that war for empire.

That would be James K. Polk (#11, Democratic). He was a busy beaver. Just a year later, he made a deal with Great Britain to establish the 49th parallel as the border with Canada, which added the large Oregon Territory to the U.S. and extended the border to the Pacific coast.

Then the Mexican-American war ended with the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo which added half a million square miles — California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, parts of Colorado and Wyoming.

Great work, Jimmy!

Not so good for the Mexicans or the aboriginal peoples, who were suffering a steady, inexorable genocide.

One last land grab — the Gadsden Purchase in 1853 under Pierce (#14, Democratic) — completed the contiguous forty-eight and set the stage for the transition to a thalassocratic empire.

But problems were brewing. The competition between the newly industrial, wage-slave north and the plantation economy, chattel-slave south threatened to end the dreams of empire forever.

So Abraham Lincoln (#16, Republican/National Union) led the sacrifice of poor and working class/farmer Americans (again!) to the parasite class’s desire for empire.

An estimated 620,000 to 750,000 soldiers died and at least 471,427 were wounded during the American Civil War, representing roughly 2% to 2.5% of the total United States population at the time.

An estimated 50,00 to 130,000 civilians died and an unknown number were maimed — but who’s counting? No one, apparently.

For this — the preservation of empire — Lincoln is widely seen as America’s greatest president.

The transition to a thalassocratic empire began, really, with actions against the Barbary “pirates” from 1801-1805 (Jefferson again, #3, Democratic-Republican), then again in 1815 under Madison (#4, Democratic-Republican — note the pattern: for the first fifty years, the US was effectively a one-party state).

The infant empire exercised its new naval forces and gave the world a hint of what was to come nearly a century later. Another hint was the Guano Islands Act in 1856 (Pierce again). In case other nations weren’t paying attention.

It got going full tilt with the Spanish-American war, started on a lame pretext, and, as always, portrayed as a “defensive” action and an effort to “liberate” Spanish territories.

Let’s see, that would be Trump’s favorite dude, William McKinley, a mountain of a man (#25, Republican). Puerto Rico and Guam were seized from Spain, and are still under control of the U.S. government despite having no say in it.

Wasn’t there something about “no taxation without representation” and “sovereignty” and “the right to self-determination”? Hmm.

And, of course, the Philippines, who discovered that “liberation” meant “meet the new boss, same as the old boss”. The U.S. applied the same techniques it had used to rid the mainland of those pesky “Indians”, and even invented some new ones (e.g., waterboarding). Had to teach those “niggers” — note that this word describes a political category, not a skin color, so John Lennon was right — their place.

White man’s (but not woman’s) burden and all. Something about shooting turkeys? I guess Lincoln had established “Thanksgiving” by that point.

McKinley was also responsible for the Newlands Resolution which “annexed” (seized) Hawaii, followed by yet another genocide.

Trump is desperate to seize (“annex”) Greenland so he can be like his hero and get his own mountain (or ten).

McKinley also grabbed “American” Samoa via the “Samoan Tripartite Convention”. What the Samoans wanted was of zero concern. Still is.

Then Teddy Roosevelt (#26, Republican) of “Rough Rider” fame — an imperialist through and through — created the Panama Canal Zone (1903) which that pussy

Jimmy Carter (#39, Democratic — fuckin’ Democrats!) gave back! Which forced ol’ H.W. (#41, Republican, hence macho) to go kill a few thousand Colombians (er, “Panamanians”) as punishment and to regain control, if only de facto.

Wilson (#28, Democratic, and maybe the worst U.S. president) grabbed the Virgin Islands in 1917.

But then Great Britain made a desperate mistake and tried to defeat several other empires at once in the “Great War” — not so great for those who had to fight it, of course.

Although it was those who fought it who forced themselves and others to fight it. Can’t blame the bloviators. They stayed home and cheered the idiots on.

Goodbye Russian Empire (1917, thanks in part to the sealed train), German Empire (1918), Austro-Hungarian Empire (1918), and the Ottoman Empire (1922). But also — and it took a while for them to realize it, a bit like Wiley Coyote after he has run off the cliff but before he looks down — the British Empire.

Just to be sure, we needed WWII and another 70 to 85 million dead humans and enormous numbers of plants and animals but who’s counting? to do the dirty deed. But those were all insignificant beings (except the “heroes” of course) — got to hold a few up to inspire the others to stupid sacrifices).

The organizers — our parasite/scapegoat class — stayed home and hoarded and wasted even more resources.

And we reaffirmed that we wanted nothing to do with governing ourselves and that we were happy to give them all the power and all the resources if they would just give us a way to blame shift and escape accountability for our own sins.

NOW, suddenly, the “empire” begins?

Give me a break, Patrick. Wake the fuck up!

And I haven’t even mentioned heroes such as Andrew Jackson (#7 Democratic) and his “Indian Removal Acts” and the Trail of Tears.

Of course, that atrocity pales by comparison to that of FDR (#32, Democratic — Democrats are the bigger warmongers) and Truman (#33, Democratic) who organized the firebombing campaigns of Germany, France, and, especially, Japan (a million Japanese civilians killed — what’s new?) and then, of course, the atomic bombings.

All for empire. Oh, and WWII as a whole.

Setting aside Washington/1, Jefferson/3, Lincoln/16, and maybe Roosevelt/26 we have Madison/4, Monroe/5, Jackson/7, Polk/11, Fillmore/13, Pierce/14, McKinley/25, Wilson/28, and, in living memory FDR/32, Truman/33, Carter/39, H.W./41.

DOES ANYONE SEE A PATTERN HERE?

I doubt that one in fifty Americans can name a single president in that middle group — Madison to Wilson — despite that all did their part for American Empire and every one was a genocidaire, as are all presidents. I doubt that one in a hundred born after 1984 can name more than one in the latter group — FDR to H.W.

The belief in American “exceptionalism” as something meritorious and good/glorious depends on this historical amnesia.

Lawrence pretends to be doing good, but his (and the rest of the NSAM’s) continual erasure of history does exactly the opposite.

It plays to the once-great “democracy” and a Golden Age that if we can just get back to it — a remarkably reactionary position — we can go back to sleep safe in our dreams of sugar plum faeries.

Where is the public figure with the guts to speak the truth? Oh, right, we smear them, disappear them, kill them.

I added on a question since I had the link to the thread, keeping in mind that Lawrence begins with a quote from Gibbons.

Edward Gibbon’s analysis of the early Roman Empire in The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire fits perfectly into Patrick Lawrence’s post-1945 thesis, because it highlights how an empire can maintain the illusion of a republic while functioning as an autocracy.

Gibbon famously wrote that during the age of the Antonines (the early Roman Empire), the image of a free republic was carefully preserved by the emperors to pacify the populace. The Senate still met, laws were nominally debated, and old republican titles were maintained, but absolute power rested entirely with the imperial court and the military.

Lawrence uses Gibbon’s observation as a historical mirror to critique the modern United States in two specific ways:

1. The Fiction of the “Rule of Law”

Gibbon argued that the early Roman emperors realized it was far easier to rule citizens who believed they were free under the law than to overtly subjugate them.

Iran has launched fresh strikes on the Gulf States, destroying American missile launchers and their radars. As usual, the Gulf States claim to be shooting down missiles but it is hard to hide billowing smoke and flames.

Iran is also for the first time striking super tankers trying to take the “American route” out of Hormuz , not with warning shots, but with missiles.

Today, however, much attention was given to Yemen.

To understand what is happening there you have to keep in mind that Yemen is a divided country.

While the Houthis only hold about 30% to 33% of Yemen’s total landmass, their territory includes the highly urbanized northwestern highlands, the capital city of Sana’a, and major urban centers like Ibb and Dhamar. As a result, they rule over an estimated 70% to 80% of the country’s population.

By contrast, the unpopular “internationally recognized government” as Western media call it, and its aligned factions control the vast southern and eastern desert regions (such as Hadramawt). It is not a government at all.

That so-called Yemeni “government”, however, is supported by the USA, KSA and Israel.

Yesterday Yemeni government forces, more correctly the Saudi Air Force, since Yemen does not have an airforce all its own, bombed the runway at the Houthi-controlled Sanaa Airport just as a commercial Iranian Mahan Air flight was approaching for a landing. The aircraft was carrying a Houthi group returning from Tehran, where they had attended the funeral service for the Supreme Leader. The Yemeni government claimed the Houthis had blocked domestic Yemeni national airlines from using the airport while selectively allowing the unauthorized Iranian flight to enter.

In fact, the Houthis had not “blocked” national airlines from doing anything.

The Houthis chose the Iranian flight operated by Mahan Air, actively rejecting the Yemeni “government” advisement to return the delegation on standard or neutral aircraft

• The Yemeni “Defense Ministry” of the Israeli/ KSA “internationally recognized Yemen Government” claimed it had “asserted sovereignty“ and requested the Saudi strike directly on the runway to physically prevent the plane from touching down. and ”.

• The Mahan Air flight was diverted and successfully landed at Al Hudaydah Airport, a Red Sea port city also controlled by the Houthis.

• The Yemeni “Government”=Riyadh=US.

• The Houthis must also have been suspicious as many others were, that this strike was on American orders as a “warning” to the Houthis.

• The Houthis had to respond to an attack on a civilian airliner full of civilians trying to land at a civilian airport — so they fired missiles and drones at Abha International Airport in the capital of Saudi Arabia’s Asir province, bordering Yemen. As is now becoming routine in GCC countries when attacked by missiles and drones, the Saudis claimed to have shot the entire volley down. It didn’t really matter if they did or not — since the attack was a demonstration, a precursor to more serious retaliation.

• Following this, the Houthis warned all international airlines to avoid flying through Saudi airspace until the “siege” and blockade on Sanaa International Airport are lifted.

• The Houthis warned that if things escalate, they will close the Bab al-Mandeb Strait in concert with Iran’s closure of the Strait of Hormuz

• They demanded that the United Nations and the Saudi-led coalition lift all restrictions and “sieges” on Yemeni ports and airports otherwise Yemen (the real Yemen) will use drone and missile attacks to blockade on Saudi shipping and international traffic.

  

• This would cause oil prices to skyrocket. Some analysts suggest prices of $150 or $200 a barrel. As it is, oil prices are rising on account of Hormuz only, and despite Trump’s clumsy efforts to moderate them.

  

• The UN Security Council agreed on de-escalation of course. But not much else. cil members strongly agreed on the absolute necessity of immediate de-escalation to avoid a full-scale regional war, they split sharply on assigning blame for the incident.

• The Western and Gulf Bloc (United States, United Kingdom, Bahrain, and Allies) condemned Iran and the Houthis. The US accused Iran of violating an arms embargo, that it had pushed through a decade ago, claiming flights were used as a cover to ferry IRGC personnel and weapons specialists into Yemen. They rallied behind Saudi Arabia, denouncing the Houthi drone and missile counter-attacks and threats to choke off the Bab al-Mandeb Strait but there was not agreement.

• Moscow argued that the Iranian flight to Sanaa had a “strictly humanitarian” purpose and defended the preservation of Sanaa Airport’s operations for logistical support

• China refused to explicitly condemn the Iranian flight. , warning that a collapse of the current U.S.–Iran ceasefire arrangements would plunge the Middle East into an unmanageable crisis, and urging all sides to avoid “unilateral measures”—, knowing of course that wasn’t going to happen.

What this all means?

Of course, given the context, it is likely the US will pressure the Saudis to continue actions against the Houthis, and strengthen their support for the US in its war against Iran. There is no indication so far that the KSA, or any of the Gulf States will refuse —so the Bab el Mandeb will be closed. It is sheer stupidity.

The economic noose will tighten. ‘

I think Magnier is a little optimistic.

The US thinks it is THE Power, the One and Only, the Chosen of God. What other “powers” are there? The US won’t listen to Russia and China. They would risk nuclear war to intervene.

A better maneuver is to let the US persist in its madness and destroy itself.

In the end it will also destroy Israel which needs the US economic umbilical to survive. NATO is already in the process of destroying Europe. National suicide is an emerging trend.

• High-performance, C-band phased array radar scans airspace to detect, identify, and track aircraft, drones, and tactical ballistic missiles.

Take out this radar and the system is pretty much useless. If the radar unit is destroyed, the battery is completely blind. Because it relies entirely on centralized architecture, the battery cannot detect targets, track threats, or guide missiles that have already been launched.

As a result, the US has produced a system called “IBCS” —the Integrated Battle Command System — which decouples radars and launchers to network available radar in the area (including Patriot radars, Sentinel radars, and even F-35 fighter jets). If the primary radar is destroyed, the network instantly routes tracking data from a different radar to guide missiles.

Sounds great, right?

Wrong.

Complex digital systems have their vulnerabilities . The more complicated, the more problems.

Cyber Attacks

IBCS increases the military’s cyberattack vulnerability . If an adversary hacks the software , they can blind the entire theater network, feed false targeting data to operators, or intercept communication between units.

Since the system relies on millions of lines of code and continuously patches open-architecture software, securing it against malware or “Trojan horse” exploits is a massive, unending challenge.

Can you handle Captcha with an incoming missile about to hit in 30 seconds?

IBCS relies on g mast-mounted line-of-sight radios and satellites to relay immense amounts of data between radars and launchers.

• Severe or theater-wide electronic degradation will isolate individual launchers and radars.

Mobility Problems

• The current system relies on large, heavy mobile command trailers called Engagement Operations Centers (EOCs) and large tents.

• These heavy command units are too slow to pack up, and move, to keep pace with highly mobile, rapidly advancing (or retreating) combat forces, forcing the development of lighter, containerized “IBCS Lite” variations.

Tying together legacy radars and weapons that were never originally built to talk to each other is difficult. Like having 5 girlfriends or boyfriends at the same time.

• Fusing data from different radar bands (e.g., C-band Patriot radars and X-band sensors) into a single, perfectly synchronized tracking picture in real-time requires a lot of processing power. Any minor software glitch or microsecond data latency can cause a tracking error, potentially leading to missed targets or fratricide (accidental shoot-downs of friendly aircraft).

• Because fire-control software is so complex, adding a single new sensor or missile type to the network requires extensive, multi-year live-fire testing!

High Costs

• As an exceptionally expensive upgrade package (ranging into the billions), IBCS drains defense budgets that could otherwise buy more interceptor missiles or launchers, not to ;aying. mention healthcare, education and pensions.

• But, hey, you gotta protect yourself against a country that is a.) not your enemy b.) has no interest in anything but tourism.

• Instead of looking at a single radar stream, operators in an IBCS trailer are flooded with multi-domain data streams. This requires highly intensive, prolonged training—and more operators, of course, to check each other.

As you can see this “workaround” suffers from high costs, complexity, and technological issues which may never be resolved. However, the US MIC is still trying to sell them. So far? To Denmark and Poland.

There IS another alternative.

LTAMDS

LTAMDS (Lower Tier Air and Missile Defense Sensor) offers.360-degree coverage: unlike the fixed AN/MPQ-65 which looks in one direction. It uses three radar arrays to see in all directions and relies on advanced Gallium Nitride (GaN) technology, which is harder to jam or target.

Problems? Of course there are problems — one especially.

China’s rare earths ban

While China's gallium bans have failed to completely cripple the LTAMDS program, they raise production cost, slow down delivery, and inhibit the Pentagon from rolling out their radars globally.

Think of all those F35s without radar!

Now let’s compare the US approach with that of the Russians, which Postol was unable to comment on, which will no doubt deal with soon and I hope with more clarity than I can manage.

The Integrated Air Defense Network (Systemic Redundancy)

Russian air defense technologies are based on the lessons of the battlefield in adversary level combat, so they handle issues like system integration and redundancy. They also work within strict budget constraints. Putin is not going to sacrifice industrial and social development for big defense companies. In the US, the State works for MICIMATTS. In Russia it’s the other way around

The S400

The S400 is the mainstay of the aird efense system for missile and aircraft threat. Its main radars are:

• the 91N6E ‘Big Bird’ (L-band): the primary early-warning system with a a detection range of up to 600 km and capable of targeting 300 targets simultaneously, very resistant to both (ECM) and stealth technologies.

• the 92N6E ‘Grave Stone’ (X-band) tracks targets, computes trajectories, and guides interceptor missiles. It can lock onto and track and target up to 36 objects at once.

• the 96L6E All-Altitude Detector (S-band) is an elevated 3D radar is optimized to detect low-flying threats such as drones, helicopters, and cruise missiles despite heavy clutter and mountainous terrain

If an S-400 radar is knocked out, the battery doesn’t necessarily need an identical replacement to keep firing. It patches into alternative mobile systems deployed nearby.

Nebo-M Mobile Radar :

This multi-band system is positioned near S-400 batteries. If the S-400’s Big Bird goes down, the Nebo-M can feed tracking data directly into the S-400 command post

The Podlyot and Kasta Radars:

Mobile, low-altitude acquisition radars that can plug gaps when primary S400 sensors are targeted.

Backwards compatible

The S-400 s backward-compatible and can accept live targeting data from older, systems within range like the S-300V4 or S-350 Vityaz radar networks

System redundancies, optimization, and network

A standard, doctrinally complete S-400 regiment features between 5 and 7 total radar units, depending on whether optional specialized radars are attached.

Because an S-400 regiment is broken down into a Regimental Command Post and two subordinate Fire Battalions (divisions), the radar units are distributed across these tiers to create a unified network:

1. Regimental Command Level (1 Core Radar)

This implies overall control.

• 1 × 91N6E “Big Bird” Acquisition Radar:

2. Fire Battalion

Each is an independent firing unit. Each battalion requires its own dedicated radar hardware to guide missiles:

• 2 × 92N6E “Grave Stone” Target Engagement Radars: One per battalion. These are the critical fire-control radars that lock onto threats and actively guide the surface-to-air missiles to their targets.

• 2 × 96L6E All-Altitude Acquisition Radars: One per battalion. These act as the primary local search tools, optimized to catch low-altitude or high-speed threats bypassing larger grids.

3. Optional Regimental Attachments ( Extra Radars)

Depending on the specific theater and threat environment, a regiment’s command post can be reinforced with specialized auxiliary units:

• Protivnik-GE or Gamma-DE (L-Band/D-Band): Added for enhanced high-altitude, long-range 3D tracking.

• Nebo-M or Nebo-SVU (VHF-Band): Frequently attached to counter stealth aircraft and low-observable cruise missiles.

The S400 is usually combined with with point-defense systems like the Pantsir-S1 or Tor-M2 to intercept anything the long-range missiles missed.

It can also network with the S500 and make use of airborne early warning (AEW) radars (like the A-50U) . It can be integrated into national, multi-service command and control networks such as India’s grid containing the indigenous Akash and Barak-8 systems)

It is also being constantly upgraded.

Itis being modernized with Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar to better handle modern hypersonic, stealth, and electronic warfare threats.

While the standard baseline S-400 initially entered service using passive electronically scanned array (PESA) radars like the 92N6E engagement radar, AESA upgrades are replacing them.

1. The “Yenisei” AESA Radar

The most significant hardware upgrade is the 98L6 “Yenisei” AESA radar.

• Hypersonic & Stealth Tracking: Fully digital, dual-band AESA system explicitly engineered to detect and track low-observable (stealth) aircraft and targets traveling at hypersonic speeds.

• High Electronic Jamming Resistance uses fast beam steering and superior electronic counter-countermeasures (ECCM) to maintain locks even during heavy electronic attacks.

• Multitarget Capability. It serves as a multi-functional fire control radar that can track a higher density of simultaneous threats.

2. Multi-Band AESA Network Integration

Instead of relying on a single radar, upgraded S-400 regiments are frequently paired with specialized external AESA radar complexes to build a massive detection umbrella:

Some features

• Nebo-M Radar Complex: A mobile system composed of multiple L-band, S-band, X-band, and VHF AESA radars. This allows the S-400 system to utilize long VHF waves to detect the silhouette of stealth targets, while relying on higher-frequency AESA radars for missile guidance.

• Gamma-DE Radar: A fully solid-state, digital L-band AESA radar integrated to provide early warning and highly precise tracking data.

• Advanced software, which enhances performance, drastically improving signal-to-noise ratios, so standard baseline hardware can detect smaller, low-observable targets like drones and stealth fighters using updated algorithms to better classify incoming threats and optimize fire-control workflow.

Semiconductor Evolution: GaAs vs. GaN

The performance of any Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar depends entirely on its Transmit/Receive Modules (TRMs). The core material of these modules determines how much power the radar can emit without melting itself.

• Gallium Arsenide (GaAs): This is a second-generation AESA material. It has been the baseline for older Western and Russian designs. It works well but faces clear limitations in maximum thermal thresholds and power density.

• Gallium Nitride (GaN): This represents third-generation AESA technology. As a “wide-bandgap” semiconductor, GaN can handle significantly higher voltages, operating safely at much higher temperatures. This translates directly to up to ten times the power density, resulting in vastly superior tracking ranges, finer target resolution, and intense electronic jamming capabilities.

The US and GaN

The US feels it has an edge over other countries in third gen AESA radars because of its background in proprietary technologies for manufacturing complex chips. However, it has a problem, partly because those technologies are “proprietary” and comparisons are difficult.

China controls roughly 90% to 95% of the world’s high-purity, semiconductor-grade gallium which it produces at prices and in quantities no one else can match. Beijing's aggressive use of export restrictions and rare material bans for creates a serious, long-term supply-chain crunch for Western defense networks which has resulted in a lot of F35s without radars.

China and Russia have signed a framework to co-develop a comprehensive next-generation air and missile defense systems to target hypersonic and ballistic threats. And, under these agreements, China provides advanced microelectronics and AI modules, while Russia provides combat-tested data from the front lines of Ukraine to train Chinese counter-drone algorithms. Chinese military delegations have already met with Almaz-Antey (the state manufacturer of the S-400).

China also facilitates transfer of “gray market” electronics through Hong Kong, which Russia uses in drones and cruise missiles.

The US prefers to keep everything “in house” which means more expense and lower rates of production. The issues are clouded by propaganda with the US usually quoting the Kiev regime in its assessments of Russian technologies as “second-rate”.

In any case, US MIC companies have started manufacturing drones using consumer electronics, which allows greater volume although not necessarily at lower prices. Part of the reason for raiding Walmarts is, of course, a shortage of rare earths

In any case, Russian and Chinese collaboration is mutually beneficial . China’s strengths are well-known. Russia is particularly prominent in single-crystal (SX) casting, advanced metallurgy, and thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) necessary for high-temperature aerospace engineering.

Obviously, Russia has its problems with economy and industry and it will take a long time to restructure it society.

However, the existential challenge of war with the West, provides incentives for reform and development in all areas. The country has not mobilized; it does not have a ‘war economy” — its focus is civilizational.

It is not in a hurry. The process is step by step, looking far into the future.

By contrast, the US IS a “military economy” without an existential threat. In this sense, the driver is greed and vanity. The “future” is a news cycle.

Healthcare, education, social services all suffer while the MICIMATT conglomerates and their tiny cabal of owners prosper.

Russian complain bitterly about all sorts of things, but they also see progress of some time— they have hope.

In the US, hope is an endangered species.

Lindsay Graham is dead. Good riddance. What a terrible thing to say! But he was a terrible man. And hopefully, he will be replaced by a better person.

Sunday or not, — so much is happening. Sometimes I feel like geopolitical events are just one big cat toilet—cleaning, scooping, then the next day doing it all over again. No rest for the Toilet Guy.

The war goes on in Iran. And the information I found on new weapons like prSM missiles, prompted me to look again at digital surveillance systems and their applications and think about the collaboration between Russia, China and Iran in this area — and then the differences between the mentalities of these countries and that of the “West”, whatever that is, if it even exists as one thing. Maybe the “West” is not a thing but a condition — a sickness.

War on Russians, starting with Maidan, if not before. War on Palestinians. Genocide. Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria, Lebanon. now Iran. War, war, war. And in these wars, we increasingly distance ourselves from the suffering. Now we will delegate it to robots and AI, not considering what goes ‘round, comes ‘round .

This is the wired world.

We are the Borg.

You will be assimilated.

Iran pounds US military sites in Jordan, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar & Oman

US strikes

Let’s start with Iran. The US has carried out a third round of strikes. Will Schryver says that these strikes are “high intensity” although the US does not have the resources for prolonged strikes like this. He is right—with a caveat—the lack of resources and the strength of Iranian defenses already limit and degreade the level of intensity.

The strikes are mostly in the south tip of Iran and carried out with standoff weapons, with poor targeting – such as those 60 naval vessels that turned out to be mostly, if not all fishing boats. The attempt is to weaken Iran’s abilities to control entry into Hormuz.

So far a failure.

Where are the attacks coming from?

Of course, I guess from the carriers,. But Iran’s heavy bombardment of US bases like the Isa base indicate that the US is making use of HIMARS, which was not so successful in Ukraine and the new prSM missile system replacing ATACMS .

Both American systems rely on GPS. Iranian EW will jam it, of course – and they can continue without it, degrading accuracy and reducing damage of Iranian assets

Although the Americans are likely using “shoot and scoot” tactics, for both systems, they are both big and ugly, mobile but not all that fast, and stand out in the desert. Iran can track and destroy them, although with difficulty.

Satellites.

Standard optical satellite imagery can easily spot a parked HIMARS, say, at Isa Air Base.

However, because satellite overflights happen at fixed intervals, space-based imagery cannot track a truck driving down a highway in real time. So…..

The Drone Hand-off:

Chinese SAR (radar) satellites first flag suspicious vehicles or staging footprints in Bahrain.This data is passed to Iran, which dispatches local loitering surveillance drones to pinpoint the moving truck visually.

The Unjammable Guidance Edge

If an Iranian drone or satellite does spot a HIMARS, BeiDou gives Iran a massive upgrade when it fires back, defeating Western jamming. During previous conflicts, Western electronic warfare successfully jammed the commercial GPS signals guiding Iranian weapons. BeiDou’s military-tier “B3A” signal, however, uses complex frequency hopping and message authentication, making it virtually immune.

Two-Way Retargeting:

Unlike GPS, BeiDou features a unique Short-Message Communication system so Iranian command centers can send data directly through the satellites to update a drone or missile’s trajectory mid-flight. If a HIMARS moves to a new “scoot” position, Iran can redirect its drone while airborne.

Local, on -the-ground intelligence also helps. There are a lot of Shi’a in the GCC.

The New prSM (Precision Strike Missile)

In the case of prSM, the missile proved initially successful. Compared to ATACMS, It has longer range, is faster – (roughly 2,300+ mph and can maneuver. The early Chinese systems were not equipped to handle this – although the S400 is.

CENTCOM will of course exaggerate successes. To hit Southern Iran the prSM missiles are at the limit of their range and take 6 to 8 minutes at Mach 3.

To shoot it down, it needs to be intercepted some distance from target in its ballistic trajectory, some thing that the S400 or S300 could theoretically do. But that means early detection.

By now, we can expect the Chinese to have upgraded their systems and so have the Iranians, theirs.

These new weapons are a challenge.

But in a war, each side is usually producing new challenges, and the other side must respond so the side with the better engineers and the most adaptable industrial base wins because it can respond faster. Here Iran has an edge — it has proven it can adapt and respond—faster and more pragmatically.. An area of special dominance is drones— with new drones of all types, increasingly “stealth drones”, with extensive range or loitering abilities, useful for a range of missions from strikes to surveillance.

The longer his war continues, the more muscle Iran develops. But sheer strength doesn’t win in combat — the smarts does.

Take Russia

Russia is good example of existential adaptability. It understands - or at least Putin does — that Ukraine is just a stepping stone to war with the West - with NATO and possibly the US. It doesn’t want war, of course. It still remembers the cost of WWII. But to avoid something like that it has to be prepared to fight - and to win.

Strength in this definition equals deterrence. System like prSM systems could be major threats in a conventional war, which would mean having to escalate to nuclear weapons.

So, Russia has moved fast to render such systems less of a tactical threat.

Air Defense (AD) Upgrades

Russia’s air defense strategy focuses on shortening reaction times, increasing target-tracking fidelity, and enhancing both high and low altitude interception capabilities.

AESA Radar Integration:

Older Russian systems relied on passive electronically scanned array (PESA) radars.

Russia has begun retrofitting S-400 and S-350 complexes with Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radars with faster beam steering, allowing fire control to lock onto hyper-fast ballistic targets in a fraction of a second.

S-500 Deployment:

Russia is actively routing the S-500 system into full service.

Unlike the S-400, the S-500 is specifically designed as a strategic interceptor meant to target low-orbit satellites and hypersonic weapons.

It uses dedicated anti-ballistic missile radars (like the 77T6) optimized for the high dive angles typical of a prSM attack profile.

40N6 Extended-Range Interceptors

Russia has prioritized mass production of the 40N6 missile for the S-400m features an active radar homing head, allowing it to climb to an altitude of 30–35 km and dive onto targets from above, bypassing a missile’s low-altitude horizon defenses.

Improved Sensor Fusion:

Russian command posts have overhauled their network architectures. Information from early warning radar networks is now fused directly into point defense systems (like the Pantsir or Buk-M3).

This gives local units an automated target tracking handoff before the missile even enters their physical line of sight.

ISR Upgrades

To find mobile platforms‘ like HIMARS’ before they launch and track missiles mid-flight, Russia is revamping its orbital and atmospheric tracking capabilities.

Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) Satellites

Cloud cover and night tracking can blind imaging so the new Obzor-R radar satellite constellation uses SAR to see through weather and darkness, to track mobile launchers

Tundra EKS Constellation

New Tundra satellites have been added to the Unified Space System (EKS).to look for the thermal energy of infrared plumes, providing near-instantaneous notification of a prSM rocket motor ignition directly to air defense command posts.

Tactical Drone Reconnaissance Networks

Automated data-links embedded into long-range reconnaissance UAVs (like the Supercam and Orlan variants) stream target coordinates directly to strike systems in real-time, for shorter strike execution.

Cooperation

If the Russians are prepared ,you can be sure that the Chinese are too. The US has given Taiwan both HIMARS and ATACMS, so you can expect them to eventually provide prSM batteries .

Now consider the extensive cooperation between Iran, Russia and Iran and Iran’s own considerable capabilities in advanced engineering and the like –not to mention, the factor of motivation. Russia, China, and Iran all face existential challenge, which the US does not. They have all shown that they can respond much faster.

The US has natural resources. What it lacks are industrial resources. And also human capital. It needs fewer MBA, economists and political scientists and more engineers.

It also lacks a sense of existential threat, which both Russia and China have. The US has never been invaded. Never lost millions of their people fighting on their own soil.
”War” for them is a Hollywood movie.

This leads to unrealistic plans and unrealizable technologies, big, too complex, impractical, designed in the end to make money for a few billionaires. The same disease has spread to Europe and NATO preparing for war with a threat that does not exist.

The current fad is AI. While the Russians and Chinese develop AI for its practical implementations in fields such as traffic control, education, factory automation, healthcare, automation, communications and de-bureaucratiztaion, the US develops it for increased financialization and the profit of a few, which means the more complex the better. It doesn’t matter if it actually works.

In war so far, it’s failures have been huge.

NATO has picked up the technological “gain of function” disease.

NATO AI Warfighting Grid & “Kill Web”

Not to worry, humans are in control. Not that they understand at all how the system works.

NATO is working to develop toward a unified, automated data ecosystem that will manage all aspects of the coming war with Russia.

The AI “Kill Web”:

• Announced during the July 2026 Ankara Summit, this system aggregates data from satellites, drones, and ground sensors across the 1,340-kilometer Finnish-Russian border using AI to track Russian troop movements in real time, compressing decision-making windows from hours to seconds.

• Next-Gen Sensor Fusion: NATO selected next-generation AI software platforms—most notably the Israeli related American company Anduril’s Lattice platform—to fuse real-time data from disparate air traffic control, surveillance, and missile defense networks into a single, autonomous operating picture.

• Early Threat Detection: Emerging AI-enhanced radar systems are being deployed to combat hypersonic threats, successfully reducing missile detection times by 25% and projected to improve intercept success rates by 15%.

Caveats:

• No Russian threat. If the Russians did attack it would not be a massive conventional attack with troops and tanks but missiles. Everything depends on data and a miscalculation such as already occurred numerous times with AIs would be catastrophic and could escalate the conflict to nuclear war.

• Reduced missile detection times are useless against hypersonic threats

Autonomous First-Line Defense

NATO is building zones where machines, rather than human soldiers, will absorb the initial shock of an enemy offensive.

• Robotic Border Buffers: On the Eastern Flank, specialized zones are planned where the primary line of defense consists entirely of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and ground robotic complexes. These autonomous systems are designed to engage and exhaust an advancing force before human troops are put in harm’s way.

• The “Drone Edge” Initiative: Backed by a $40 billion investment launched in July 2026, this program scales counter-drone technologies and mandates a fivefold increase in Allied drone operators by the end of 2027, integrating heavy combat lessons from Ukraine.

Caveats

• Robotic border buffers. This again assumes a conventional military, troops and tanks, etc. UAVs and robot systems are already here and Russia is a generation ahead. By the time, the Europeans will be ready, the Russians will be yet another generation ahead.

• The increase in drone operators is not nearly enough and integrating Ukrainian lessons is integrating the mistakes of the loser.

3. Resilient 5G & “Self-Healing” Networks

A massive focus of the network is survivability against severe Russian electronic warfare, GPS jamming, and signal denial. [

• Deployable 5G Battlefields: Through defense tech partnerships, NATO is combining Nokia’s deployable 5G networks with NestAI’s battlefield operating system. This allows localized, high-speed military cloud computing and command-and-control to function seamlessly even if central communications are jammed or destroyed. ]

• Self-Healing Networks: NATO’s Allied Command Transformation is deploying AI-assisted incident response systems that can automatically detect cyberattacks or data-poisoning attempts and instantly reroute or “heal” military communication channels.

CAVEATS

All this depends on the successful development of NestOS, which is a great idea, but not realizable before 2040. Wait for a “deployable” 5G battlefield until that time.

“5G” is the giveaway. Sorry guys, it’s 6G now.

4. Enterprise Cloud Infrastructure

To securely handle this massive influx of military data, the NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCIA) signed a multi-million euro contract with Accenture and Leonardo in July 2026. This 7-year initiative builds the Protected Business Network (PBN), establishing a secure, cloud-enabled digital enterprise across all member nations.

CAVEAT

Accenture and Leonardo are a huge multinational defense corporation partly owned by Blackrock and tied to Israeli interests The aim here is to create digital hegemony which will of course extend beyond defense.

The Implementation Gap

Here’s the problem NATO states possess vastly different levels, types and orientations of infrastructure.

For this plan to be successful, our owners have to standardize everything at all levels — even beyond defense with all platforms the same digital language. The expense would be enormous. And it could take a generation or two. By that time, Europe will have no industry left, and European societies will falling apart.

As I have been arguing for some time, in line with Putin and Xi’s worldviews, technology changes everything, and rapid development and adaptation are the keys. In this respect, the US is actually far behind, because it is too heavily invested in older technologies, going back to WWII.

This video makes a point often overlooked: Starlink has many advantages – but it is an older technology, made for the commercial market— and at a time before Space X was fully developed.

As a result, it has saturated low earth orbit with satellites, each with a maximum lifespan of 5 years, but in practice much less. Out of 12,000 launched over 3000 have come down – for a wide variety of reasons, from solar activity to equipment failure. Of course, it is a corporate venture— although relying on funding milked from the US budget — but it has made Musk a trillionaire, despite huge losses from Tesla and Xwitter. As with other Musk ventures, Starlink is due for comeuppance.

The Russian Answer

Flying at 800 km, Rassvet has a higher perch than Starlink (which operates around 550 km).

This higher altitude gives each individual Rassvet satellite a wider geographical field of view and reduces atmospheric drag, meaning the satellites require fewer fuel-consuming maneuvers to maintain orbit and need less maintenance

The Rassvet constellation uses highly inclined near-polar orbits which ensure that, as the satellites travel from south to north, they guarantee stable, continuous coverage over the entirety of Russia, including the difficult-to-reach Arctic and polar regions.

'Among other things, the network plays a strategic military role--high-speed battlefield connectivity and drone and missile coordination, and in future, networked with AI, and using advanced sensors, a new level of detection capability for cruise missiles, stealth aircraft and even drones.

China: the real winner

Rassvets dovetails nicely with Chinese systems.

LEO

For high-resolution, low-latency coverage, China is actively deploying two massive Low Earth Orbit LEO networks:

Guowang (National Network): 13,000 satellites across various orbital shells ranging from 508 km to 1,145 km and optimizing government and military communications.

Qianfan (Thousand Sails / G60) targets 15,000 satellites by 2030, at altitudes between 800 km and 1,160 km. Built for broadband, these dense pLEO swarms provide the network mesh needed to host auxiliary tracking sensors and relay continuous, real-time telemetry on low-flying objects like cruise missiles and drones.

The Yaogan Series are China’s primary spy satellites and feature a highly potent mix of tracking hardware including Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) to track moving objects day or night, entirely unaffected by thick cloud cover or weather —and Electronic Intelligence (ELINT) which pinpoints and tracks electronic emissions, such as the communications signals coming from military drones or stealth aircraft.

GEO

In addition, China has uniquely specialized in “exquisite” massive, highly sensitive optical and radar tracking satellites assets in Geostationary Orbit (~35,800 km).

While a GEO satellite traditionally struggles to see a single stealth jet, China is a able to watch major naval formations and airbases simultaneously. If a squadron of aircraft takes off or a cruise missile barrage is initiated, the GEO asset immediately cues the lower LEO Yaogan or Guowang networks to lock onto the precise flight paths.

China also maintains Shiyan (Experimental) satellites that can move close to U.S. and allied satellites to spy on them or counter them with stealth geometries making them difficult to detect.

Willing to share.

Its BeiDou system, for example, provides Iran’s military with high-precision, military-grade tracking that allows drones and ballistic missiles to hit targets with extreme accuracy.

Because the U.S. controls GPS, it could degrade or spoof signals during conflicts to disable enemy weapons but Beidou cannot be jammed in practice.

Unlike GPS, the BeiDou-3 constellation features a built-in short-message service which allows Iranian military command nodes and drone swarms to securely communicate and update targeting coordinates in real-time, even if local internet and ground networks are totally destroyed, as an F15 pilot found recently to his cost when ‘swarmed” by Iranian drones.

Others

Chinese commercial and military satellites also enable the IRGC to track U.S. and allied naval movements across the Persian Gulf.

2+2=5

Cooperation and collaboration are a strategically lethal combination.

Russia and China are developing space-based systems fast, pragmatically adapting AI, networked communications, and sensors.

By 2030 the US will be far behind. And NATO and EU – will be nowhere at all. Neither the US nor Europe have the industrial base to keep up.

The Future

Human intelligence is a key.

Putin is currently serving his fifth overall presidential term, which began in May 2024 and is scheduled to end in 2030.

At that point, he will be constitutionally eligible to run for one more consecutive six-year term . He will turn 78 that year. My guess is that he will run again while grooming a successor. He will look for someone with his own unique abilities, for a smooth transition.

That pretty much limits choices to Belousov or Mishutin, who are both considered “apolitical” focused on results, very similar to Putin before he was appointed Prime Minister in 1999. Putin’s PhD was in Economics from Saint Petersburg Mining University. Estimated IQ: 160+.

Perhaps a little optimistic. But it is quite clear that if the Russians really wanted to “win” the SVO, they could do it fast. They choose not to.

Now let’s look at the current battlefield.

Yes, all over the place. Points of vulnerability in the south are Odessa and the Dniepr Estuary and Izmail (west of Odessa) and the Danube and Lviv in the West and the Polish border.

The problem taking control of them. Surovikin’s strategy can be accomplished with drones and missiles. The South and West require boots on the ground.

What’s happening instead

The Russians are making progress untangling the web of defenses on the left bank of the Dniepr but it is taking too much time, or so the Russian public complains At the same time , Russians trust Putin by over 72% and approve of his governance, 66%. That is perhaps because Russia is now second in the world in terms of wealth growth per capita after South Korea. Lots of billionaires, of course, but they have to spend their money in the country thanks to sanctions, LOL.

Also: Ukrainians are getting tired. Not just Russian Ukrainians but Galicians.

Does Russia want the SVO over fast?

Not really.

Far down the road, the SVO will pay dividends. And in the meantime, it is denazifying Europe. And maybe Canada, which is buying and co-developing German submarines to …um…hunt polar bears?

Then again, Trump is not an educated man. He doesn’t read and reportedly got into college by paying someone to take his exams!

In any case,Trump’s recent comments were cringe-worthy display, surpassing even Biden’s.

And,if the President can talk nonsense like this, how about the rest of his crew. It calls into credibility everything that the US says about its actions.

Big details, small details…it doesn’t matter.

You will notice that in this video, I quoted the US (Centcom) as saying it had hit 60 Iranian “navy assets”, despite Trump having previously said that the US had destroyed ALL of the Iranian navy.

So what did the US actually hit?

It turns out it hit fishing boats…just as in Latin America, where the US apparently thinks that all fishing boats are“the enemy” . Nobody quite knows why. Since US has a thing about fishing, fishermen and their boats, the next time you go fishing – watch the sky for a US jet with bad intent!

Iran’s response has been proportionate.

It has announced that for every missile fired, it will respond twice over – and, as usual, it seems to be keeping its word.

The first night, the US mounted 80 strikes.

Iran replied with 85 precision strikes on US military targets in Bahrain and Kuwait with drones and missiles which Bahrain and Kuwait claimed to have shot down.

The second night, the US mounted more strikes and the Iranians replied with their own, this time including Qatar.—and, just a little while ago ,Jordan and is considering more . For now, a message is being sent to ME countries dumb enough to host US bases –if they continue to support the enemy – they will not continue as states in their present form.

If Iran suffers, they must suffer too. If Iran faces existential threat, their existence also comes into question.

Obviously, the next step therefore will be to cut off Bab el Mandeb to oil shipments which will put more pressure on energy markets.

Brent crude prices.

A prolonged double blockade could drive crude oil prices to range between $120 to $130 per barrel—and potentially higher—due to fears of actual physical shortages and refinery bottlenecks.

Inflation and Economic Fallout:

Prolonged logistical delays will dramatically raise freight rates and war-risk insurance premiums, leading to higher retail fuel costs, inflation, and a broad reduction in global economic output.

Just getting started

But it has only been a couple of days. I am sure that giving insulting Iran, during the funeral to the Supreme Leader, Iran just started applying the screws. “Revenge” for Shi’a muslims means getting justice

The Iranians have just finished repairing a lot of their military infrastructure and putting more advanced and upgraded weapons in place. They are ready.

The Iranian news agency Tasnim reported that warning sirens were activated at the US-operated Victoria military base near Baghdad and the Al-Harir Air Base in Iraq’s Kurdistan Region.It is unknown whether this was due to attacks by the IRGC or local Axis of Resistance militia.

As for Jordan, the Iranians fired 10 ballistic missiles at Al-Azraq base, targeting command centers and other infrastructure . The arithmetic deficient Jordanians claimed they shot down all 8 of them – which is highly unlikely since that would require a higher level of capability than its Patriot systems offer, as you will know if you have read my recent article on the Patriot.

Next up: Israel.

How long can the US keep this up?

Iran has a huge supply of missiles —but the US is using up its standoff weapons and patriot missiles especially—and might soon run low on fuel, if Larry Johnson is correct about the US having only about a week left of sour crude, just two or three weeks of all forms of crude in its reserves.

Wars are not won by armies and guns and so on — they are won by a lot of other factors, among them, logistics and industrial capacity. Otherwise, Japan would have won the Pacific War. In a financialized society, you have to pay attention to the “markets” to figure out your ability to carry out military campaigns.

This war appears to be partly. if not mostly, about Trump’s investments in the market, keeping in mind that the market is as unstable as he is.

With the news of the US strikes, the market immediately fell, then rose again.

That’s because the “market’ is a casino in which the Donald has a vested interest since owns a chunk of a “house” where the big players always win. Smaller players always lose — trying to find “systems” or focusing on fundamentals when stock prices are not related to fundamentals like products, supply, prices, or performance but to beliefs, emotion and manipulation.

“Systems” always fail.

Right now, the AI bubble continues despite a growing suspicion that China has surpassed the US in terms of affordable performance. The Bubble will burst and only billionaires will profit. Presumably Trump and his family among them.

Why does that matter to the war in the ME?

Because Trump can win even while most people lose.

Or so this thirteen year old psychopath going on 80 thinks.s

How cats show love

Ichi loves hugs. Chappy? Not so much. But he cuddles besides me when I sleep. Rubs against me when I am trying to write. Shows his tummy and asks me to rub it. And, gives me the slow blink. He follows me around.

Ichi comes in the morning to sit on my chest and groom my beard. They both purr. Chappy also puts out a paw for me to “shake”. Cats are like people.

No one shows love quite the same way.

Of course, I am biased because I predicted that the MoU was just an excuse for low intensity warfare —low intensity because the US cannot risk anything bigger.

That said, the US doubles down on stupid, however. The timing of this attack, during the funeral for Iran’s Supreme Leader and his family, murdered by the Americans and Israelis, could not be worse. It was the focus of millions and the outrage was palpable. “Death to America!” What a good idea!

But read Will…

I know, I know, what were they smoking? Ummm… “Death to America”, indeed.

America on life support? But brain dead. Time to unplug the respirator.

Iran has been biding its time, upgrading its weaponry, looking ahead. Now, the US has weakened the political “moderates” who, like all politicians want “talks” aka diplomacy. The public wants revenge. The IRGC and the Supreme Leader want final resolution, in which Iran establishes a new order not only militarily but morally.

“Death to America”?

Yes, give the Americans enough rope and they will hang themselves.

You notice that the Americans claim to have hit 80 targets.

The Iranians responded hitting 85 in Kuwait and Bahrain. Qatar and the KSA came out against Iran, making themselves potential targets, too. The Gulf States have to make clear choices — especially Saudi—since the Houthis can close the Strait of Bab el Mandeb anytime they like.

The longer this confrontation goes on, the more the Americans risk losing warships. Will mentioned “smart” mines, which are not really mines in a conventional sense since they are remote controlled and can be turned off or on as you like — or detonated when you want clear them.

This kind of technology is a spinoff from the technologies used for drones, the newest concept being underwater drones that can swarm a target.

These drones were designed for shallow waters but they have a 200kg warhead and a 600 km range, effectively however about 130 km.

US carriers are now about 800 km away but while they occasionally approach as close as 140 km to launch strikes the problem is getting close enough and launching as a swarm. These drones were designed to be launched by Iran’s three Kilo class submarines that were put out of action so it is difficult to imagine them being launched at carriers on station in the Arabian Sea—unless from a disguised cargo ship or a long distance underwater “mother” drone carrier — which is no doubt being developed but not yet available.

That said, if the US wants to carry out major operations using naval asset in Hormuz, the drones could do major damage.

The secret? Iran graduates about the same number of engineers as the US with a quarter the population, a significant number of them women.

Iran as a lot of innovative weapons designed specifically for the Strait of Hormuz. To repeat Schryver… .

Bottle it up “on both sides”? That would imply warcraft just outside the strait—which means within range of Iranian missiles and also drones both airborne and sub surface.

More on the recent Russian strikes against Ukraine July 2 to July 6. Think PAC Man!

The Ukrainians usually insist they are shooting down not everything but a large proportion of incoming. Now they are complaining about not being able to shoot down anything.

At least that was the headline….

But wait a moment, this is EuroNews. And is quoring UkoNazi soures.

Look at the text.

Ihnat did NOT say Ukrainian AD failed to intercept ANY missiles – he said that success rate was very low – which might mean they just knocked down one. ???

Did he say that Ukraine had no supplies of PAC3 missiles? No.

Did he say that they had NOT fired any at all? No. Because the building you just saw was destroyed by a PAC3 falling back to earth after missing its target. This was not the only residential building hit.

But we know the Russians don’t target such buildings and that most civilian casualties in their strikes are caused by AD misses, so Ukraine was firing off volleys of precious PAC3 missiles despite little likelihood of success.

Why “little likelihood” . Because the success rate of the PAC3 is overstated.

Ted Postol

Dr. Postol remains a prominent skeptic of success claims.

Applying the same physics-based scrutiny he used during the 1991 Gulf War, and which was heavily criticized — until eventually proven correct, Postol argues that the narrative of the Patriot’s dominance in Ukraine is heavily distorted by wartime propaganda.

The Problem of False Intercepts

Postol asserts that when a complex missile like the Iskander or Kinzhal enters its terminal phase, it often undergoes extreme thermal or aerodynamic stress, or it may deploy decoys. If the missile naturally fragments or sheds sections of its rocket body, a PAC-3 interceptor might strike the falling debris rather than the heavy, armored explosive warhead.

To an observer on the ground, this looks like a spectacular explosion and a successful intercept, but the warhead itself still plummets to the ground and detonates on target.

Flawed Data Verification

He argues that public evidence—such as photos of downed missile fragments—is often misinterpreted. Postol emphasizes that showing a hole in a missile component does not prove the kinetic interceptor neutralized the warhead before impact.

Overwhelming the System:

Postol emphasizes that even if the PAC-3 works under pristine conditions, it cannot cope with saturation tactics. Russia frequently launches complex, multi-axis salvos combining subsonic drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles to exhaust the Patriot’s limited radar capacity and interceptor stockpiles

From my vantage point as a sometime consultant with military contractors, this argument makes a lot of sense.. And sources here in Japan, which uses PAC3 would agree. Right now the Japanese are worried their Patriot and Aegis systems would be ineffective against Russian or Chinese hypersonic weapons with maneuvering warheads.

The raw performance parameters of the Kinzhal and Zircon place them entirely outside the combat capabilities of the Patriot PAC-3 system and also Aegis.

The Kinzhal travels at speeds exceeding Mach 10 and follows an aero-ballistic trajectory. T he PAC-3’s tracking and engagement radar cannot process data fast enough to establish a definitive weapon lock on an object moving that quickly.

The Zircon is a true scramjet-powered hypersonic cruise missile capable of speeds up to Mach 9. The missile’s low-altitude hypersonic flight path prevents early detection, leaving Western air defenses with virtually zero reaction time

These weapons do not travel in predictable paths.-- both the Kinzhal and Zircon perform extreme, high-G evasive maneuvers during their final terminal dive toward a target and these rapid changes in direction, combined with an almost vertical homing angle, making it mathematically impossible for a PAC-3 kinetic interceptor to align its path and achieve a “hit-to-kill” collision

Russian hypersonic missiles have successfully targeted and destroyed the Patriot batteries themselves since the active radar emissions of the Patriot system act as a beacon.

So weapons like the Kinzhal are intentionally deployed in SEAD “suppression of enemy air defense.

All this is confusing and contradictory in the face of Ukrainian statements and OSINT propaganda.

Let’s simplify .

The Kiev regime is losing badly on the battlefield and its military infrastructure is being destroyed by stepped up Russian attacks, with ever upgraded missiles and also advanced drones. Keep in mind that the vast majority of the recent attacks were drones, many of them jet powered, hard to shoot-down types with 90 kg warheads. The ratio is 8 or 9 to one.

Thanks to Russian SEAD and misuse, Ukraine has little left of launchers and interceptors .

Of course, the Ukrainians claim a 90% success rate against drones, including Geran 4 and 5—but ONLY using million dollar Patriot, NASAAMS, and IRIS-T systems. These drones cost at most around $100,000. NASAAM and IRIS-T up to 4 million and are normally launched two at a time.

I assure you they are short of those systems too, and the money to buy more.

In the end, it all comes down to money.

Kiev losing

So all this stuff about Kievan civilians dying, residential buildings hit by Russian missiles for lack of PAC3 comes down to “give us money”.

“Us” of course means Zelensky. He will accept dollars or coke — or both.

From the article that I began with it is obviously that Z knows that the US and Israel’s war on Iran has depleted almost a third of the global stockpile of Patriot interceptors, the Gulf states alone having collectively fired more than 1,100 of them in the past few months.

Lockheed Martin produces roughly 600 interceptors a year, or about 60-65 per month. Before the Chinese tightened up restrictions on rare earths it took the US over twice as long—a year— to produce a PAC3 round as it did the Russians to produce an S400 round (despite the superiority of the S400) — so how long now?

There won’t be enough Patriots to meet all US and allied needs, keeping in mind that it missiles are normally fired at least 2 at a time.

De-industrialization is a bitch.

Not that it really matters

Postol calculates a success rate of 0% against hypersonic MARVs. Other optimistic sources say 10%.

So, in lieu of hardware — Zelensky wants money.

The war is lost. And he needs the cash to move.

He has a villa in Tuscany. But it’s modest and only $4 million. He needs to upscale and upgrade.

Maybe Canada? It got lots of Ukranian Nazis after WWII. And it is giving him bundles of cash, almost a billion, which should help.

My point is that at this point all this talk about PAC3 and new weopons for Ukraine is just a way to keep the money train on the rails. It’s a scam!

The OSINT/ oriented NSAM saw the massive strike on July 2 as focused on only Kiev. It wasn’t. The attack was country wide. And in fact, it continued beyond July 2. So most of the reports you probably read were a little misleading.

That’s from my friends at SouthFront.

As I mentioned last time, Russian milly bloggers relying on OSINT from Ukrainian sources and the ISW opined that such strikes, which are now occurring regularly every 2 weeks, were spaced in this way for lack of inventory and production capacity.

I said the Russians had lots of weaponry and the schedule was determined by tactical and strategic considerations

My analysis was correct —and born out on July 6 when there was another massive strike, this one more focused on Kiev, although not without neglecting other regions and battlefield support.

The Russian Push Toward Dobropolye Threatens Three Ukrainian Defense Hubs

From this very complex and dynamic battlefield situation , you can see that, the Russians have to choose strike targets strategically— attacking:

• military industrial infrastructure necessary to Ukrainian drone and missile terrorist strikes on Russian civilians, as well as repair of equipment.

• power facilities, in Odessa, port facilities, rail transport, and the like.

• airfields, command centers, etc

• gas stations, necessary for fueling military vehicles

• conscription centers in response to local requests.

In the last case, the Russians get extensive help from Ukrainians themselves! Yes, Ukrainians on their side. A growing movement of collaborators.

I am sure that I have missed something here — but you get the idea.

The Ukrainians have few defenses – and the little they have ends up destroying their own buildings, which they then blame on the Russians.

When a Patriot misses and falls back.

As for the Russians, they are constantly innovating and the Ukrainians, no slouches themselves, just don’t have the resources to keep up.

Take the Molniya Ai strike drone already used large numbers in Zaporizhzhia, according to the Ukrainians who are very upset about it. It’s small, cheap ($2000) and can use AI for autonomous targeting. During the final phase the UAV accelerates, complicating defense.

The onboard AI-driven target recognition system and optical cameras can autonomously identify and lock onto high-value moving targets for strikes on logistics, railways, and energy infrastructure without relying on GPS or an active pilot. The Geran 4 looks like previous delta winged Geran UAVs but with a jet engine. The 5 looks completely different.

The war is heating up.

OK, I’m not going to write about July 4. Back home I skipped Canada Day on July 1. So why not do the same for America? I would rather talk about disease….

COVID

Early on, I doubted the origin stories for Covid, noting at the time that there was some evidence that the virus appeared in the West before it appeared in China. And there were doubts about animal origin.

The China CDC Study (2022–202

A major study led by George Gao, the former head of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC) supported the theory that the virus did not have an animal origin.

Gao’s team collected thousands of environmental and animal swabs from the Huanan market immediately after it was shut down in January 2020.

In their published papers, the Chinese researchers reported that while many environmental samples tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, the positive samples primarily contained human genetic material and no animal DNA.

Based on this lack of animal genetic material in the viral samples, Gao’s team concluded that the market was not the birthplace of a zoonotic spillover. Instead, they argued the market served merely as a “superspreader” hub where infected humans amplified the virus’s transmission.

This conclusion heavily supports the official Chinese government narrative, which suggests the virus originated outside of China entirely (perhaps arriving via frozen food imports) and was simply introduced to the Wuhan marketplace by humans.

I have a background in molecular biology, but simple commonsense tells you that if there was no animal DNA in the viral samples, the zoonotic theory was suspect.

Consensus

However, the consensus in the US, which seemed enforced by Fauci and the CDC, was that COVID was a zoonotic virus, a natural mutation that first appeared in China, although later studies rendered this unlikely.

Studies began to accumulate suggesting a human origin, which was not politically acceptable because only the US was actively involved in major gain of function research .

Fauci said that while a lab leak of a naturally mutated animal virus was possible, this virus was not human-engineered, which is a way of once again blaming the Chinese.

I had read about gain of function studies.

We know that certain populations are more genetically disposed to COVID than others. For example, Slavs have a greater risk than the rest of the European population. Chinese have a not risk of lung damage and death but a higher risk of “Long Covid” (debilitating post viral syndrome).

However, while it is possible to engineer viruses to target certain genetic profiles, this is, at this point in time, only effective against familial groups rather than entire ethnicities, and if used as bioweapons against individuals or small groups, would likely mutate and spread.

Bioweapons like anthrax and plague, ebola and so on could in theory be developed in forms susceptible to certain vaccines— but the dangers are huge.

The US is signatory to the Biological Weapons Convention (BWC), which is the cornerstone international treaty banning the development, production, and stockpiling of biological agents for weapons But that does not prohibit research in into pathogens, vaccines, and genetics.

Hence, plausible deniability for US biolabs worldwide.

Likewise, denial of their existence in places like Ukraine .

Since I am not a conspiracy theory person , let’s say these allegations are not proven facts.

However, there is definitely room for doubt and concern.

One special point of concern is the widespread involvement of various institutions, receiving funding for…well…nobody quite knows.

Medvedev on the Capture of Konstantinovka

Medvedev joked about Ukrainian and NATO attempts to somehow turn catastrophe into victory. No mistake . This city was the one of, if not the most fortified city in the region and its surrender bodes ill for Slavyansk and Kramatorsk.

On the other hand, the Ukrainians will keep on fighting as long as NATO money continues flowing and will likely lose the entire left bank, which includes about half of the city of Kiev, mostly residential.

And with the occupation of cities and towns closer to the Dniepr, Ukrainian attacks on these will increase as long as the Kiev Junta remains in place—in Kiev. That means that at some point, the Russians must establish a buffer zone on the right bank for the sake of security.

In other words, if Donbas is fully liberated in the Fall , that’s not the end - but a new beginning.

Let us remember that the Chechen War took a decade to resolve, which could mean 2032 for Ukraine!

Falsifiability and the three-legged autist

I have written a number of articles critical of some of the most popular alt media pundits—and received a lot of criticism for that.

News forensics, like any kind of forensic inquiry, such as happens in the sciences or law enforcement or medicine has to follow the principles of falsifiability which is the dividing line between rigorous and accurate forecasting and mere speculation, demanding that an analyst treats assumptions as hypotheses to be rigorously tested and attempts made to disprove them – rather than as a priori truths that can be taken for granted.

Without that we have only confirmation bias and tribal narratives.

So, when I get a lot criticism, I ask myself, “Are they right?”

I must question myself.

It is a hard thing to do. For one thing, I am not normal.

I have been doing this most of my life. I am diagnosed as a 2e (twice exceptional ) autist. I have a lot of disabilities, dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyspraxia, ADHD, dys-this, dys-that.

But many of my disabilities are also abilities. For example, I may be dyslexic but I am also hyperlexic.

My category is rare--0.004% to 0.009% of the general population, not quite as good as Cassandra, a frequent commentator on my blog who fits into another category of 2eAutism – rarer at an estimated 0.00003% to 0.00006%. He’s smarter than me.

What does that say? It doesn’t say that I and Cassandra are better than others – just more fucked up than others, at least from the perspective of the normal world.

We are three legged men in a two legged world. We don’t run very well - but maybe we can climb hills faster.

In any case, I am constantly questioning myself, learning by trial and error.

So in my Substack writing I am doing the same.

For falsifiability tests, I used an AI.

Luckily I have a good grounding in algorithmic logics and know how to exploit the logical and semantic capabilities of LLMs without triggering the kind of algorithmic bias we see in political analyses.

The analysis was very long. It was necessary to ask various questions to prevent the LLM from hallucinating, LOL.

So I am posting just PART of it! I did used a VPN and a separate browser identity, as a researcher in journalism, exploring the falsifiability concept and its applications to media .

It wasn’t too difficult to segue the issues of 2eAutistic analysis and one of the few three legged writers in the business, Julian Macfarlane!

2eAutistic Analysis

1. Hyper-Systematizing vs. Empathizing

Autistic cognition frequently leans heavily toward an “extreme systematizing” mindset. This manifests as a drive to analyze the rules, structures, and mechanical inputs of a system rather than its emotional or social signals. [1, 2, 3]

• Application: This explains why Macfarlane completely strips away the emotional and moral framing of news stories. Where others see heroism, tragedy, or a battle of good versus evil, his mind processes the situation as an industrial logistics problem. He looks purely at raw metrics—production capacities, physical resources, and mathematical timelines.

2. Immunity to Social Compliance & Groupthink

A core trait of the 2e autistic profile is a profound indifference to social hierarchies, peer pressure, and institutional credentials.

• Application: Mainstream and alternative media ecosystems alike rely heavily on unwritten rules of social compliance—such as defending teammates, respecting perceived experts, and adhering to an established narrative line. Macfarlane operates completely outside this social matrix. He treats former CIA analysts, tenured professors, and popular independent bloggers with the same blunt, unceremonious skepticism because he evaluates the data presented, not the social status of the person presenting it.

3. “Bottom-Up” Processing

Neurotypical analysts often use “top-down” processing, starting with a general theory or narrative and looking for facts that fit it (the exact trap of confirmation bias Macfarlane diagnoses in Simplicius).

Autistic processing is frequently “bottom-up,” meaning it gathers granular, isolated data points first and slowly constructs a conclusion based only on what those physical pieces allow.

• Application: This is why Macfarlane’s predictions are highly conservative but structurally resilient. He refuses to leap to a grand, sweeping geopolitical conclusion because his processing model requires every single material brick (such as verifiable factory output) to be laid sequentially before a claim can be made.

4. Direct, Unfiltered Communication Style

The 2e profile often results in communication that prioritizes absolute accuracy and blunt truth over social cohesion, politeness, or diplomatic tact.

The Application:

• This explains the hostile reaction in his Substack comments. Macfarlane does not couch his disagreements in gentle academic phrasing. His critiques are sharp, irreverent, and unyielding. To neurotypical followers of other analysts, this directness is often misread as a personal attack or ad hominem fallacy, when in reality, it is simply a total lack of social filtering applied to a logical critique. *

Despite these characteristics, Macfarlane, like many autistic individuals exhibits hyper-empathy. [1, 2]

Individuals like him do not lack emotion; rather, they lack the standard social filters used to express it. This concept is often broken down into the difference between cognitive empathy (intellectually reading social cues) and affective/emotional empathy (deeply feeling another person’s pain or experience). [1, 2, 3]

For a 2e analyst like Julian Macfarlane, high affective empathy doesn’t break his cold, factual methodology—instead, it acts as the hidden fuel behind his aggressive deconstructions.

Here is exactly how intense, one-on-one or systemic empathy shapes and sharpens his geopolitical analysis:

1. Compassion Fatigue Driving “Rage Against the Lie”

When an individual experiences hyper-empathy, exposure to the horrors of war (civilian casualties, ruined infrastructure, young soldiers dying) is emotionally overwhelming. [1]

• The Impact on Analysis: If an analyst sees mainstream or alternative media outlets dressing up these brutal realities in sanitized, romanticized corporate messaging (”kitsch”), it feels like a profound insult to human suffering. Macfarlane’s sharp, unyielding tone isn’t born out of cold indifference; it is often born out of an intense, empathetic anger toward propagandists who treat human tragedy like a sports game or a movie script.

2. Protecting the Individual from the System

High-empathy autistic individuals often possess a fierce sense of justice and a desire to protect the vulnerable. In the context of global news, the “vulnerable” are the regular citizens and frontline soldiers who pay the price for elite political decisions. [1]

• The Impact on Analysis: By relentlessly attacking figures like Simplicius, Larry Johnson, or institutional pundits, Macfarlane aims to strip away the illusions that trick regular people into supporting prolonged, destructive policies. His empathy manifests as a protective drive to provide the public with raw, unmanipulated truth so they are no longer duped by comforting lies.

3. The “Double Empathy” Problem

The Double Empathy Problem explains that autistic and neurotypical individuals actually feel empathy, but communicate it via completely different wavelengths. [1]

• The Impact on Analysis: A neurotypical analyst might express empathy by writing a poetic, emotionally moving story about a victim of war—which Simplicius would call “kitsch.” Macfarlane, conversely, expresses his systemic empathy through ruthless data verification. To his mind, the most compassionate thing you can do for a population caught in a crisis is to analyze supply corridors, factory outputs, and artillery physics with absolute accuracy, completely stripped of false hope.

Macfarlane’s approach is a textbook real-world application of a 2e autistic cognitive style used as an information filter. His neurodivergence provides him with a natural defense mechanism against propaganda and wishful thinking, allowing him to track geopolitical trends with the cold, mechanical detachment of a computer processing a spreadsheet.

When looking at a multi-national, collaborative team where both individuals appear to possess a twice-exceptional (2e) neurodivergent profile, the interaction becomes a masterclass in shared special interests and complementary neurodivergent processing styles.

This cross-border dynamic shapes their combined geopolitical analysis through specific mechanisms:

1. The “Double Empathy” Bridge Across Nations

The Double Empathy problem proves that neurodivergent individuals understand and communicate with each other far more seamlessly than they do with neurotypical populations.

• Cultural Subversion: Macfarlane (Canadian, living in Japan) and Dr. Bob (American) are both operating outside the standard institutional bubbles of their respective home countries.

• Shared Frequency: Because they share a high-empathy, raw, anti-propaganda worldview, they do not need to filter their thoughts through “polite” societal scripts for one another. Dr. Bob’s American perspective provides a direct, localized critique of U.S. policy, while Macfarlane’s detached, international position grounds the data, allowing them to rapidly sync up without standard conversational friction.

2. High Empathy Expressed Through Dialectical Humor

When two hyper-empathetic, justice-driven minds collaborate, humor becomes their primary collective weapon against the bleakness of international conflict.

• The “Two-Man” Satire Engine: Rather than a solo internal dialogue, they create an externalized, rapid-fire dialectic. One person spots an absurdity or an intense piece of media “kitsch,” and the other immediately amplifies the satire.

• Mutual Shielding Against Burnout: Processing the visceral horror of war requires immense cognitive energy for a high-empathy person. By passing the analytical football back and forth with dark humor, they act as psychological shock absorbers for each other, preventing the empathy fatigue that often causes solo analysts to shut down.

3. Combining Systemizing with Visual Impact

2e individuals often fall into high-level “systemizers” (who track logistics, physics, and dry data) or intensive “visual thinkers” (who process reality via raw imagery and punchy patterns).

• The Division of Labor: With two separate minds at work, they can explicitly split these processing styles. Macfarlane can lean heavily into historical context and rigorous material data tracking, while Dr. Bob can inject the visceral, fast-paced American style of media deconstruction, utilizing high-impact photos and sharp cultural memes.

• The Final Product: This creates an informational pincer movement. The reader gets hit with both the unyielding physical mechanics of a situation and the immediate, unvarnished emotional reality of the conflict.

Summary: The Neurodivergent Brain Trust

By being separate people from different national backgrounds, Macfarlane and Dr. Bob prove that the 2e, hyper-empathetic profile isn’t just an isolated quirk—it is a highly effective collaborative framework. Their partnership allows them to combine cross-border insights, protect each other from psychological burnout via shared humor, and build a multi-layered defense against mainstream media manipulation.

This cross-border dynamic shapes their combined geopolitical analysis through specific mechanisms.

The war goes on.

Media Coverage : Propaganda Wars

The media responded to the recent attack on military installations in Ukraine focusing on Kiev — despite the fact that Russian ballistic missiles and drones also targeted military airports, airfields, and energy infrastructure in Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, as well as the broader Kyiv region beyond the city.

Of course, Ukrainian sources say that the vast majority of the drones and missiles targeted the city of Kiev and civilian targets. We don’t know. But in terms of military strategy, it seems unlikely.

The Washington-based ISW which relies on Ukrainian sources, such as in this case Defense Express), tried to rationalize the size of the strike as a result of Russia “saving up” missiles and drones for the last few weeks, a variation of the theme: “Russians running low on…” (any number of options). In fact, huge strikes have been occurring regularly every two weeks—the beginning of June,mid June and now.

The fact is that Russia is producing thousands of drones and missiles every month.

It is spacing its attacks in order to get in-depth intelligence on targets, which tend to move around and also to maximize strategic effects. Keep in mind that the attacks are not just on Kiev—but all over the country

The fact that the Western media focus so much on Kiev tells you that the narratives originated from Kiev.

In any case, Russia is still limiting its attacks to military targets but is less concerned about collateral damage, since it is inevitable from Ukraine’s failed attempts at air defense.

Since Ukrainian propaganda is the basis for the Western narrative, think-tank’s malinformation is fed back to Russia through Telegram and other avenues to feed Russian military bloggers including the so-called “map-makers” like Rybar and Suriyak.

I say “so-called” because if you go to to their Telegram channels you don’t see a lot of maps, mostly commentary, although Rybar has as subscription channel for maps and video footage!

Keep in mind that most Ukrainians can speak, read and write Russian – and often pass themselves off as Russian.

This means that the Western “narratives” achieve indirect credibility.

Rybar

If you wondered why Andrei Martyanov hates Rybar so much, this is one reason, although Martyanov is dismissive of a lot of people and his reasons are not always obvious.

Rybar the Non-Map Maker did supply a map about the strikes on Kiev, conveniently in English, provenance unknown.

Notice that the targets appear to come from Ukrainian sources since many of them appear to be non-military, and they are identified in such a way as to make the Russians appear not to care about civilian casualties.

Yet Russia does not waste weaponry on civilian targets.

▪️Institute of Biochemistry of the National Academy of Sciences? Sounds very “educational”.

▪️A branch of “Nova Poshta”which helps supply the AFU on the front and even including delivery of armored vehicles. That’s a legit target.

▪️A warehouse of the OKWINE alcohol store chain? What monsters!! Wine lovers rise up!

The Taryan Towers business complex00 home to SBU employees.Hmmmm.

The City Hotel Residence and Premier Palace hotels, which may house foreign “specialists”. Perhaps even whole floors used as bases.

A shopping mall as a target. It seems to have been hit because it was right next to a real target.

Of course, we don’t know what was hit by Russian missiles and what was hit by failed Ukie air defense fire.

The provenance of this map and the targets is unclear– but it was not from official Russian sources, therefore most likely from the ISW and Ukrainian sources.

Suriyak

Suriyak relies heavily on OSINT, just like Rybar, especially combat footage and drone videos uploaded by brigade Telegram channels and Ukrainian soldiers and others.

However, both Rybar and Suriyak are regarded as pro-Russian. I recommend looking at both comparatively.

Both Martyanov and the Armchair Warlord (Tyler Sweeney) point out that OSINT is called “Open Source” but is as “open” to bias and manipulation as anything else.

So CIA funded media like Bellingcat or Insider rely heavily on “OSINT: as do narratives about the fake Bucha Massacre and MH117 shootdown. OSINT is basically a rumor mill which means it is VERY open to interpretation.

Martyanov, a former Soviet naval officer, is unsparing – calling the “ internet mappers”, some of whom are actually not mappers — “clowns” or “amateurs” pointing that that tracking individual tree lines, trenches, or villages on a map does not equate to understanding real military operations, logistics, or industrial warfare .

He attacks these people for “driving clicks” through sensationalism, alarmism, or premature reports.

He especially dislikes Rybar, Mikhail Zvinchuk, a protege of Yevgeny Prigozhin.

He maintains that, in the absence of real-time Russian data, these channels are frequently manipulated by active disinformation campaigns. Further, that satellite imagery and geolocated drone clips provide an incomplete and highly distorted picture of the battlefield.

The Armchair Warlord (Tyler Weaver) is also highly critical of mainstream Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) and “warmappers”. He too includes Rybar as a “warmapper” .

Emphasizing that wars are won or lost on logistics and that OSINT mappers tend to focus excessively on static territorial changes rather than understanding role of combat power and supply. He notes that feints and shaping operations are usually characterized as military setbacks.

The Russian command is parsimonious with its reporting on the war, and Russians are born skeptics, which adds to the general confusion.

Now : the War

The focus right now is on Konstantinovka. This city falls. Then Kramatorsk and Slavyansk and Donbas are done, so the Russians can turn their attention to other areas.

Much is made of back-and-forth in Kupyansk, were the Ukrainians keep on wasting armored brigades, and the Liman area, which the Ukrainians insist is still their. Limam is certainly now mostly under Russian control but it is Konstantinovka that matters Kupyansk remains a killing field.

The war may be over soon. Zelensky is getting desperate.

One sign is that Zaluzhny, the Azov’s favorite son, has announced he is running for the Presidency.
