One of my commenters, "BadBard" is one of those people who writes poetry. Of course, everyone does that. But few do it well.
He is one of those few. And he has a beautiful soul.
I know a bit about poetry.
Back in the 60s I was on the fringes of the Black Mountain Movement. I met Ginsberg and Creeley and others -- and wrote poetry myself. Even won an award for it. A haiku...LOL.
Most of the many poets, that I knew, some of them award-winning, wrote mostly badly.
"Mostly" . Because every now and again they would write something good. Accidents like my haiku!
Badbard, however, is consistently good.
Unusual for poets is his unique ability to infuse thought with emotion.
No man was ever yet a great poet, without at the same time being a profound philosopher.
― Samuel Coleridge
He presents the ironies of life, infusing thought with emotion.
A lot of poets are too often narcissistic. Their poems are the equivalent of Facebook photos of breakfast. Who cares?
Badbard is very, very sick right now in hospital undergoing extreme "matrix" chemo. Wish him well. Pray for his recovery.
You can message him on Substack. Or right something in the comments here. He is still writing.
Cahoots and Treason I believe are recent probably written in the hospital.
Love ya' Badbard. Get well!
Julian
Treason
Reason is a fickle tool
Beware we use it as a rule…
As men of reason we set out,
To reason what it’s all about.
Priding ourselves we take great care,
Turning things over, here and there….
Dotting the I’s and crossing the Tees
Confirming conjectures that put us at ease.
But lift the veil, take a step back
Our ideas and convictions buckle and crack.
Under reasonable agreements
We cunningly hide
The thoughts and actions of our darker side.
Readily we reason it’s perfectly all right
For conflict, for murder,
To lie, steal and fight.
In the name of Religion, Nation or Tribe
We spread hatred and conflict that eat us alive.
Hatching questionable, avaricious pursuits,
In unspoken agreements and nefarious cahoots,
We righteously reason our homicidal roles,
Wrap them in agreements and swallow them whole.
Reason always leaps to justify
The contradictions and consequences
From which we fly.
Fondly we covet our despotic enabler,
Flattered and deceived in its false praise--
For it is cunning and quickly rallies
To cloak our Simeon ways.
Special Article Part 3.
I spent the day working on Part 3.
I was trying to shorten it. But it actually got longer as I considered it in the context of current events.
It was Trump’s election to lose. All he needed to do is to keep his mouth shut. Fat chance! I don’t know which is worse—Trump’s bombast or Harris’ brainless nattering.
The recent hurricanes have made a difference to the national mood. Public concern about priorities is the wild card. They have realized suddenly, the public good is not a priority at all.
Despite, the DNP owning 80% of the media, Trump and Harris are even in the polls. So the Damnednocrats have brought out Obama, who is clearly not campaigning for Harris as much as he is campaigning against Trump.
This time round, the Trump Team—RFK, Musk and Vance are changing perceptions. Vance is the one to watch! A lot of Trump voters are actually Vance voters.
Blowhard or Bimbo? Which do you prefer? Hobson’s choice.
Meaning you’re screwed either way. The original meaning of the phrase is a little different…..
Thomas Hobson was the owner of a livery stable in London in the late nineteenth century. He had a firm rule that customers had to take the horse nearest the stable door or do with no horse at all
Trump will probably lose in the popular vote but win the electoral college.
This mess is not an indictment of American democracy. It has never had one. Hopefully, it will give it a try someday. It might have to go to the Venezuelans or the Chinese for advice. Haha.
The Special Article is now 4000 words. A bit more work and it is finished. So many rewrites, I have lost count. It always takes longer than I expect. But it is improving.
F Scott FitzGerald wrote 48 endings for the Great Gatsby—and still needed Maxwell Perkins to fix the thing.

PS
Badbard has a substack page, too.
Thanks to badbard for the words.
And to you for bringing him to our thoughts.
Hope you recover well badbard and keep bring us such great poetry.
Thanks to everyone who still has hope and a desire to make thing better when we get the chance.
Keep on keeping on everyone, we will get there, I know it.
Thank you Julian and Badbard for bringing us this poetry.
Yes, we're conflicted and contradictory creatures, us things called people.
Reason is the double edged sword which allows us to rationalize ANYTHING. It's terrifying in it's ability to cut both ways. It shouldn't trump instinct. Reason has it's limits. Faith and wisdom step in somewhere I would hope.
Best wishes gentlemen.
