Annexation 2025
For those who read my recent article on the annexation of Ukraine, here is what it would look like.
Ukraine would be like Belarus— a union state. It would be a pluralistic democracy guaranteeing the ethnic rights and freedom of religion—which currently do not exist in Western Ukraine—And dependent on Russia rather than Europe, now collapsing economically and socially.
Since 4 oblasts in the South have already joined the Russian Federation, Western Ukraine might constitute a separate Republic-- so the pink area could be restricted to the Ukrainian speaking areas area west of the Dnieper River—basically the Polish border regions—landlocked, depopulated, agricultural—and dependent on the largesse of the rest of the Ukraine.
More likely, Ukraine will become a single federal Ukrainian state, with each oblast enjoying local autonomy—but guarantees for rights and freedoms provided by the Russian Federation as a whole.
The Russians would have to prepare Constitution which would be presented to the peoples of Ukraine in referenda.
To guarantee a free vote, the Banderites would have to be purged along with their supporters and all foreign companies’ acquisitions would be invalidated and investments frozen or expropriated, altering economic dependencies.
As you can see, the strategic configuration in Eastern Europe will immediately change, with Russian forces with the commanding advantage on the Polish, Romanian and Lithuanian borders.
In addition. Russia will have complete control over the Ukrainians abundant strategic resources.
As you can see from the map, with the squares in blue territory indicating bases, the Russians will need their own bases pink squares) on the other side of the border.
This is another good reason for annexing the entirety of Ukraine. If the Galicians don't like it-- they will just cross the border to the Polish side – although the Polish hate them and they cannot expect a warm welcome.
Russian bases on the border will be an incentive for the Polish to try to reduce border frictions-- especially if the Russian army in 2025 reaches its goal of 2 million. Russia will have destroyed at least for NATO armies at this point and will not be trifled with.

I wouldn't think that Russia would want Galicia. Better to hang it like an albatross around Polands neck.
