Bobcat: the hunt for truth

The truth is elusive. It runs, it hides, and when you catch it and eat it, you are soon hungry for more3 and the hunt begins all over again.

Truth exists in a kind of ecosystem. And it evolves.

So you need to adapt.

Bobcats do that.

Bobcats are highly adaptable and have successfully integrated into urban and suburban environments alongside human development. They have learned to navigate roadways, avoid human activity, and even utilize areas like yards and parks for hunting and shelter.

Homo Sapiens Surbanis is less adaptable. It cannot survive without a convenience store and a smartphone to tell it what to think. It moves in regular, predictable patterns.

So each of Bob’s polemics is a teaching moment. Or, maybe better - a learning moment. Bob hunts the truth.

In his last article, which provoked some discussion, there was much to learn.

One thing was the difference between textbook “history”, the so-called “historical record”,—and what actually happened. I go into that distinction in some detail in my Special Article Putin 3 when I discuss the use of “history” as a cultural narrative to substantiate a socially conditioned belief system. To do that kind of analysis, I reference cultural anthropology (one of my areas of study) and the concept of “schematic narrative template”.

“Conjuring Hitler” ? (url updated on previous post also)

The keyword is “conjuring”—”to bring into existence as if by magic” (dictionary definition). Hitler existed. He was not an illusion. But our understanding of him IS illusory, because we see him through the distorted lenses of different “narratives”.

Who are YOU? Ask an ex-gf or ex-bf, or ex-wife or ex-husband — ex-something — and you will get so many different “you’s”. After you have separated, each person has a different history and the stories change over time.

It is no different with countries and peoples.

Of importance in Bob’s article, which most people missed, although I referred to it in my introduction, was the fact that while many Europeans volunteered to help the Nazis in their attack on the USSR, not many Americans, or Brits or Canadians did, other than a very, very few in POW camps hoping to get out for a decent meal.

Why?

Because of the legacy of WWI, in which the Germans were the Enemy, the “Huns”. Hitler was another Kaiser. Different moustaches is all. In addition, British propaganda and good ol’ Winston were going full blast about the Nazi drive to rule the world, although this was not Hitler’s intention at all. He just wanted Russia. Just as the Japanese did not want San Francisco, contrary to popular belief — just China.

Anti-semitism never entered as an issue, although much of Eastern Europe, Poland and Ukraine, were even more anti-semitic than the Germans.

In other words, the Anglosphere was thoroughly indoctrinated to hate Germans and Japanese.

Fast forward almost a century— and Germans are our friends. We denazified them, recruiting a lot of their eminent Nazis into our governments, academic and scientific establishments.

The Japanese?

They are now blonde.

With God dead, Satan was out of a job.

Our “new” Prime Enemy was really an old one — Russia. And out motives were Hitler’s — conquer them and take their resources—an idea that he had learned from watching the British create their empire and the American state dispossess the original inhabitants of North America.

The rationale for this was embodied in “history” which we adapted to justify our goals, and which, in essence, became the foundation of a kind of conspiracy theory, in which a new Russia under a reincarnated Stalin, Vladimir Putin who sought world domination.

That’s what Joe Biden told Congress and they believed him because that is what every President since Putin took office had been insinuating once they saw Russia reinventing itself. Narrative matters. Not facts.

A good narrative has an evolving plot and so much depends on the “Big Bad” — in this case Russia. With a supporting cast— North Korea, China. Putin, Kim, Putin.

So Ukraine got to play a heroic role, fighting the Evil Russian Monster, defending the freedom and rights of everyone, upholding democracy against the murderous dictator Putin.

(The Ukrainians deliberately target schools, hospitals, shopping areas, deliberating killing hundreds of women and children. The Russians target only military assets.)

Post 2014 Ukraine is an anti-democratic, ultra-nationalist, racist Nazi re-creation of an odious ideology responsible for massacres and atrocities. These facts were left out because they didn’t fit the story.

As a result, you had Canadians and American and Brits and Australians and others volunteering to fight Russia, along with many others.

In WWII this would have earned them shame and derision at home. But now it earns them respect, income, respectability. They are heroes not traitors to humanity, abominations.

Then the question arises - what do we do about the thousands of people who support them— and, in essence, betray their humanity? What do they deserve?
