Fico: the Sin of Honesty

Here is Reuter’s take on the Fico shooting.

Fico embarked on a whirlwind of changes which have raised concern over the rule of law, including scrapping a prosecution branch dealing with high crime as well as plans to ease punishments for graft, revamp public media and limit the influence of non-governmental organisations. He has also ended government military support for Ukraine.

Interior Minister Matus Sutaj Estok said the suspect listed government policies on Ukraine, dismantling the special prosecutor's office that deals with high-level corruption, and its plans to reform the public broadcaster as reasons for the attack.

Fico had long accused civil society organisations and independent journalists of doing the opposition's bidding.

In April, he warned that language by opposition supporters was dangerous.

"They are vulgar and swear at government politicians on the street ... I am only waiting until this frustration ... morphs into the murder of a leading government politician."

This is pretty typical of the MSM and the European Press. On the one hand, writers are aware of public sympathy for Fico has been seriously wounded.

At the same time, they want to indirectly suggest that he somehow caused the attack by policies that damaged democracy and civil society in Slovakia – reforming the public blood broadcaster, dismantling the special prosecutor's office, limiting the influence of NGOs, attacking the opposition or hate speech and ending support for Ukraine.

In fact, Fico has been acting to support democracy and civil society in Slovakia.

The public broadcaster RTVS is funded by the state— but it also belongs to the European broadcasting Union and normally broadcasts points of view that are mainstream in the European media— for example, anti-Russian and pro-Ukrainian propaganda. What Fico wanted was media was fact-based broadcasting – not propaganda. No more lies.

The MSM claims that this is an attack on “media independence’. Independence….? LOL. The right to misinform the public, even at the cost of thousands of deaths, as in Ukraine.

In the case of the special prosecutor's office, it has been used by Eurocentric ruling parties over the years to persecute opposition politicians —but has been ineffectual in curbing corruption— which is best dealt with at the local level.

NGOs in Slovakia, as elsewhere in Europe, are usually fronts for the CIA, various security organizations or oligarchic groups such as the Soros group.

The job of the media and NGOS is to make sure that only the “right” people get together —no matter what the voters might want.

Naturally, Europe was not happy about what the Slovakian government is doing.

We have seen this pattern before — in the Ukraine— at the time of the Maidan coup.

Fico has been blunt in his disdain for Euro elites. For their toadies in the media. He has called them “hyenas”. Rough language but accurate—although insulting to hyenas. .

So what is his Sin?

Honesty. And, as we know, that cannot be allowed. For that you end up either in prison, like Assange— or dead.

The gunman who shot Fico acted alone but not in a vacuum. He was not a “lone wolf”. Wolves are pack animals.
