Happy Easter

For all those celebrating Easter — Happy Easter!

For those not celebrating — chocolate eggs will be really cheap tomorrow.

Today, I worked on Canadian tax return. I have to do this every year to get my tiny pension, which barely pays my gas bill . I am, of course, well below the poverty line but the Canadian government takes 15% in taxes. No, I don’t get a refund.

I live abroad A not-quite-citizen of a not-quite-country.

Do I love my country? I would— if it loved me.

In addition to doing taxes, I rewrote the next installment of my series of articles on Putin which I had finished yesterday. I just wasn’t satisfied. But I think it is a little improved. It’s late now — about 1 AM —so I will send it tomorrow.

Ukraine

The 'Easter Truce' appears to only be minimally upheld in certain sections of the front

Ukraine initially declined the truce yesterday but accepted hours later after getting pushback.

The Russian Defense Ministry reported over 50 attacks just inside the border areas of Russia with civilian casualties, including a 2 year old girl in the Belgorod region.

Aside from the shelling of Russian army positions, civilian areas in Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk and Lugansk have also been attacked.
