How to Kill An Abrams

3

Slavyangrad on Telegram, which I recommend, has posted this video, also on Twitter and referred to by EurAsian Times.

I have written a lot about America’s “Wunderwaffen”. I used to work for Japan’s defense industry and, believe me, there is huge difference between PR — and performance.

American PR suggests that the Abrams is hard to kill.

But, as you can see from this video, the Abrams is hardly invulnerable. Of course, it is vulnerable from the air, especially by helicopters with antitank munitions. But also on the ground from the side, rear, and underneath.

It’s considerable size makes it easier to hit in addition to its ammunition storage, extra crew member, and volatile fuel, not to mention its poor reliability in the field, sometimes less than a 100 km before it needs repairs.

Its huge weight makes it unsuitable use on soft ground and stuck in the mud it is even more likely to end up a massive piece of junk.

However, it is not just “huge” in size and weight - but in cost, as well—twice as much as the most recent T90. About $10 million.

Not much bang for your buck in war where tank-on-tank combat is rare.
