Normally I don’t do sitreps. This is more like an overview to go with morning coffee.

Remember the days before the Internet when he had paper thingies known as “newspapers”? I do. I am that old.

Well, this ….um… worldview” is sorta like that — the newspaper and coffee moment — but for July 27.

As you can see, the Russians are continuing to demilitarize the Zelensky forces. At the same time, the US is insisting that the Ukrainians can win! The Russians have been all over the place … Iran, Africa…now North Korea. And lots of stuff is happening elsewhere.

Please note that the numbers given in sitreps for military wins and losses can never be confirmed very easily. That kind of information usually comes long after a war is over and coffee is no longer rationed.

People are still arguing about British and German claims in the Battle of Britain.

Ukraine

Rabotino (Orekhov) area: 21 AFU tanks and 14 infantry fighting vehicles destroyed. AFU loses about 250 KIA. 1000 wounded. AFU has now lost over 200 tanks in course of "counteroffensive" plus associated armor. At least 50,000 casualties (KIA, MIA, WIA). Russians not so much.

Bakhmut. Intense attacks. AFU suffering 1000 casualties a day.

Krasny Liman / Oskol River area. Russia retaking villages. Sverdlovka, Novogorovka and Nadezhda. Kharkov next.

Odessa -Nikolaev: missile strikes continue.

Khemelnitsky. (Central Ukraine) Heavy strikes on arms depots, airfields for SU24s and StormShadow delivery, and military command centers.

Other Places

Syria. Russian Su35 damages US drone violating deconfliction agreement.

North Korea: Defense Minister Shoigu visits.

Pacific: Russian and Chinese complete joint naval exercises.

Economy

BRICS. More than 40 countries expressing interest in joining.

Russian economy. Russia announces better than anticipated economic performance -- 2% (as I predicted previously). Munitions production continues to improve. Lowest inflation in Europe. Progress in LNG production in Arctic.

Dollar. Warren Buffet says dollar cannot die. Others disagree.
