Lavrov has once again emphasized that Russia is open to negotiation and diplomatic dialogue—including with the US— the current president's refusal to talk notwithstanding.
Since 2014, Russia has emphasized the necessity of diplomatic solutions—over military ones. Hence the Minsk Agreements and later the Istanbul agreement.
Most recently Putin's peace proposal defined terms which assured Western Ukrainians continued existence as an independent state-- albeit neutral, demilitarized, and democratic—and accepting the right of the oblasts that voted to join Russia to continue as legitimate parts of the Russian Federation.
We have seen how NATO and the US— and, of course, Zelinski responded. They insist on nothing less than Russian surrender, retreat to what they consider to be the 1991 borders, and reparations.
In the meantime, Western Ukraine continues to fight—and commit war crimes and terrorism—including attacks on civilians, abuse of POWs including execution torture, and the use of prohibited weapons, including chemical and toxic agents.
So why would Lavrov and Putin talk about rational discussions with those who don’t want it and have shown themselves incapable of it ?
It is quite obvious that the war will continue until the neo-Nazi forces are completely destroyed, and Western Ukraine prepared surrenders unconditionally. Ten years of neo-Nazi indoctrination brainwashing will keep Western Ukraine fighting for a while.
But as Zelensky’s regime gets more and more extreme, the more likely it is that ordinary people will begin to question what they have been taught the last decade. We see that already in Odessa with armed resistance against mobilization.
So far in this war, when the going gets rough, it is the neo-Nazis that run for the hills, leaving untrained conscripts to fight on.
Constant lies are becoming obvious even to Ukrainians who see the missiles that the Ukrainian air defenses were supposed to have destroyed—hitting hitting their targets with unfailing precision.
Ukraine has become a country of cemeteries.
Once Donbass falls and Russia takes complete control of the East Bank of the Dnieper, threatening Keiv, you will see the Banderite regime fleeing to Lviv, if not across the border. Zelinski is increasingly unstable and may be replaced—but not by anyone more moderate. Probably someone as bad or worse, if history is any indicator.
The unrelenting attitude of NATO ,the EU led by Germany and the UK, and the US “deep state”—expressed in nuclear posturing and threats to deprive Hungary of EU voting rights to punish Orban for seeking peace —only works to convince Russia to take control of all of Ukraine, setting up tribunals and purging the neo-Nazis. De-nazifying Ukraine, especially the Azovs, must be a priority.
After that, the Russians will place hypersonic , land-based Zircon medium-range nuclear weapons close to Polish borders.
The US will try to use that threat in the Mafia style protection racket it has been running for years in Europe, But there is no protection against these weapons— and at some point European taxpayers are going to balk—as they have notably in France and Slovakia.
All this will take time. It won’t happen this year but next.
In the meantime Lavrov and Putin will continue to talk peace and the need for dialogue . Their intended audience however is not Europe or the West but ratherAsia, East Asia and the Global South.
Dialogue is what the multipolar world is all about!
Chappy
I am expecting Chappy in early August!
So, right now, I am cleaning up my apartment. And buying various stuff the shelter people expect me to install. It's a good opportunity to get rid of junk I don't need. I'm amazed at all the things I've managed to accumulate over the years! I don’t wear ties. Why do I have 50 of them?
I wonder if my brain is cluttered too?
After proofreading Installment One of the special report on multipolar global civilization, it's 4000 words with a lot of graphics. One more proofread – and it will be out. The second installment to follow after.

Fire and Ice
By Robert Frost
Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I’ve tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice
Ichi, Chappy, and a lower life form (aka "human") Me.
Funny part is, the West can always step down and accept the terms. Which are, mind you, not for ending the war, but for beginning of negotiations. Actual Russian terms would be much greater in scope, I believe. But anyway, it's funny to think that at this point in history, NATO could have bailed on these terms. Instead it will speed off the cliff and in ten years these terms will be viewed as lavishly rich and unthinkable.
