In ancient history there was this thing called "truth".
It became extinct early in this new century and was replaced by "narrative"or "story".
I think it's because of smart phones, which all have cameras and people can chat and send each other pictures and nobody much cares about words anymore. We have all regressed to when we were children and mommy and daddy gave us picture books. Cute bears and giraffes and tigers all getting along.
As we got older, the stories changed and diversified.
Take a look at Netflix! Or Marvel. Or Pornhub for that matter . Whatever your midbrain wants, it gets, if you can endure advertising or pay a little bit.
“Truth” used to be processed in the forebrain. Now it's lower down – in the limbic system— or maybe lower still between your legs.
The problem is course that while the stories have become more sophisticated – and even further removed from reality – the mindset that buys into them—yours - is really only six years old.
When you reach puberty, you did not reach “maturity”-- which in most people never happens at all. New hormones coming online just require new narratives-- even more detached from reality and truth to the degree that they conform to cultural templates and enable you to get laid.
So with the Ukrainian attacks on Russia recently it should not come as a surprise that the entire Western media – mainstream and alternative –- goes with the Ukrainian narrative— which is just a lot more exciting and visceral than the Russian one.
The Ukrainians would have us believe that they attacked between four and six airfields in Russia and put at least 40 strategic bombers out of commission, dealing up massive blow to Russian strategic aviation. “ See? We have defeated the Russians so they can no longer attack Europe We deserve a reward”.
The Russians haven't given the details of the damage done by the attacks but it seems they may have lost up to 11 bombers and transport aircraft on no more than two airfields. Nobody seems to know the numbers for sure. And Ukrainian and Russian satellite imagery differs in terms of imagery and interpretations. Of course! Different pictures for different stories!
The videos the Ukrainians were showing online turned out to be pirated from video games! But, hey, who doesn’t like (pirated) video games.
Oh, and as the Bucha “Massacre” showed satellite photos can be faked too. That was three years ago and now AI makes it easier.
Fake1
The Ukrainians also claimed to have destroyed some of the pillars of the Crimean bridge but these attacks were clearlyl repelled. Two drones hit protective barriers and a third was shot down. Not that the MSM will mention that
Thanks to my friends at Southfront
In the meantime, Russian missiles destroyed the SBU headquarters in Sumy where a meeting of NATO officers was taking place,
The Ukrainians claimed that civilians were killed – which is true-- but not by the Russians – rather, by debris from Ukrainian air defense missiles,
Ukrainians do a lot of imaginative storytelling – as do the media in the West. As I said, their stories are much more exciting, with brighter colors. They can rake in the cash for this kind of porn, which it is – war porn or news porn—porn nonetheless.
The old fashioned kind has gotten boring and went from a high of 37% down to well below 30% according to —as Alex Mercouris would say — a trusted source – my dick.
Help me finish Putin 4, please buy me and Chappy and Ichi coffee! HERE!
100 percent but most Americans and western Europeans are now pretty pretty ignorant and/or dumb with short attention spans and short-term thinking. You can easily sell them shallow, sensationalist bullshit. That's part of what unbridled capitalism has done. May it collapse quickly.
Thank you Julian. Blunt, but a needed slap in the face to all of us who inhabit 'Modernity'.
