Nothing is "obvious"

Russians continue making steady progress in Ukraine. And Ukrainians keep on losing.
Losing men. Losing equipment. Losing tactical positions. Most important of all, losing logistics.
The mainstream media in the West—-CNN, Newsweek, and other pseudo-journalistic, vultures pick at the bones of what used to be called "Ukraine but died in 2014— and really needs a new life and a new name.
Forensics
As an analyst, I look for contradictions and anomalies to deduce what is really happening.
What appears to be obvious never is.

We are told that the West is going to keep on supplying Ukraine with weapons of various kinds capable of hitting targets inside Russia, and NATO is threatening to send "trainers” to the Ukraine, boots on the ground.
The Russians have articulated their redlines –as always, clearly.
‘If you do do these things, we will retaliate — asymmetrically’ —says Putin, indicating perhaps a willingness to supply anti-Empire proxies in other countries with advanced weaponry! Or maybe something else. Whatever, it will hurt.
All this seems “obvious”.
But here's the thing – the Americans have been supplying advanced weapons to the Ukraine which Ukraine has used to hit at Russian territory, especially Crimea, for a long time.
In addition, NATO personnel have been in the Ukraine since 2014.
Remember when Macron got upset about losing French personnel to a Russian strike in the Kharkov region?
How many American "mercenaries" have been in the Ukraine at the behest of the American government? How many Poles and Lithuanians and Germans and Brits and Canadians? CIA, MI6, Special Forces? But what does it matter?
The Americans and the British AWACS aircraft and drones flying over the Black Sea routinely guide Ukrainian attacks. But pretend they are not. God knows they are not just supplying Ukrainians with weather forecasts and music.
So, what's the difference between what has been going on—and what is happening now. What has changed? None of this is new. And why are the Russians suddenly drawing lines in the sand -- or rather in the mud.
And why are the Americans ignoring what the Russians say?
Nothing new
What’s changed for NATO?
The NATO and its American overlords have suddenly made what was covert, overt. That’s all. Why?
What’s changed for the Russian is that they are winning. A village at a time. But there will be tipping point. Sooner than later.
They are also winning economically, politically and diplomatically— rising as the Empire falls. When Rome fell, civilization was preserved in the East.
Today, when Western civilization falls, the best of whatever it has will also be preserved in the East.
American and NATO posturing is just that— an attempt to maintain “face”.
That is failing, too. The US has given the Russians a wide range of diplomatic opportunities to demonstrate the American Eagle is really just another vulture.
So it is that this war, eventually to end in Russia’s favor, not with a bang but a whimper is not really about Ukraine for the Russians—t is about nation building—and national resurrection.
Not only that— it is about the creation of a kind of democratic international community, which respects the rights of individual nations and resist hegemony of any kind. FDR’s dream. The one Truman turned into a nightmare

I would like to submit something written by the famous US science fiction author Robert A. Heinlein (one of the most astonishingly irrational US chauvinists who ever lived - which is saying a very great deal).
"I didn't tell him that the American Eagle eats carrion, never tackles anything its own size, and will soon be extinct—it does stand for those ideals. A symbol means what you put into it".
To be fair, Heinlein was also a staunch and unbending rationalist and contrarian. E.g.:
