One becomes two?

Or three?

More and more

It’ s Sunday here in Japan and I've been working most of the day on my article on Putin. It just keeps on getting longer and longer as more and more things come to light and I see more and more connections. Right now, I have the equivalent of two special articles. By the time I finish it might be three!

There is a lot to talk about because discuss Putin—and all the whys and wherefores— you also have to talk about the declining Western Empire— Imperial America and its provinces – Canada, the UK, Australia and Europe. I left out New Zealand because I like flightless half blind birds.

I also had to look at history, going right back to before World War I—then I had to do the “more and more” thing and ending up going back before that to the Middle Ages!

The US has inherited a lot, and so has Russia of course! But America’s debt to European history is striking. For example, somehow or another there is a connection between the genocide of the Cathars— and also the Crusades —and what we see happening today in the Middle East.

It is somehow symbolic that the US’s new Secretary of Defense, Hegseth, who makes the previous guy look almost competent, has a huge tattoo of the Jerusalem Cross whose origin goes back to the 11th Century and became synonymous with the Kingdom of Jerusalem secured in 1099 after the massacre of its population.

The Crusaders, seemingly driven by a belief that their victory was a divine mandate, showed little mercy to the city's Muslim and Jewish populations.

Men, women, and children were killed indiscriminately, with many seeking refuge in their places of worship – the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Western Wall – only to be pursued and slain there.

The streets of Jerusalem, a city revered as holy by Christians, Jews, and Muslims alike, were said to have run with blood.

The scale and ferocity of the massacre left a lasting impression on both the Islamic world and later European observers.

For Muslims, the fall of Jerusalem and the subsequent massacre were a profound shock and a rallying point for future resistance against the Crusaders.

This event significantly influenced the Muslim perception of the Crusades, often being cited in later narratives as a symbol of Christian aggression and betrayal.

For Jews, the massacre was another tragic event in a long history of persecution.

The Jewish community in Jerusalem, which had coexisted with their Muslim neighbors, faced a brutal end, further contributing to the Jewish diaspora and reinforcing narratives of suffering and displacement.

Beliefs, assumptions and ways of thinking are passed on from generation to generation, in new forms, with genetic shift, of course —but sometimes atavistic. We have gone from feudalism to neo-feudalism to techno-feudalism.

That’s history—and the Western mentality —but there is a lot more to Vladimir Putin—other challenges, other things that I have had to consider.

There are so many aspects to his story, which the West would rather not look at or consider or accept that one must think critically about wha ever you read in the media - whatever is taught in the universities as well—whatever is “common wisdom”.

As a result, my coffee buyers will be getting not one article — but two— and unless I can edit that down— three.

I hope that the wait will be worth it.

In the end, these articles will not be perfect — and open to considerable criticism I am sure — but hopefully a step in the right direction. I hope tha,t at least, they will stimulate some thought and discussion.
