MOSCOW, April 26. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin during a meeting with US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff confirmed Moscow’s readiness for negotiations with Ukraine without any preconditions, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told journalists, replying to a question on the matter.
"During yesterday’s conversation with Trump’s envoy Witkoff, Vladimir Putin reiterated that the Russian side is ready to resume the negotiation process with Ukraine without any preconditions," the Kremlin official said.
Peskov reiterated that earlier, "Putin repeatedly stated this."
The West of course doesn’t get this at all. Negotiations without preconditions just means talking. About anything.Like what you had for lunch. No preconditions right?
Russia has already stated its conditions for an agreement, which Ukraine has completely rejected and which the Americans don’t support. Actually, they can’t support the Russians because it would de facto mean accepting they have lost the proxy war they set up so many years ago, adding to that long, long list of military defeats.
Today, the Russians took back the last village in Ukraine. Official Ukrainian losses are over 75,000 — which means probably as many as 95.000 since the Russians always understate — they count only intact dead bodies— and a lot of the bodies are in pieces.
In Sumy, the Russians are fighting in five areas. More small victories.
So why should the Russians play nice when they are assured of winning with a successful long-term solution with minimal casualties and the costs spread over time, if they are patient?
After meeting with the Green Gobshite (dressed in black this time) in the Vatican, Trump said he wasn’t sure if Putin really wanted the war to end and that that bothered him.
The Western media took this as Trump talking tough to Putin - but he was just posturing for the American media to look strong as opposed to fat and flabby.
Of course Putin is not in any hurry to end the SMO,
Why would he want to do that before he has broken the back of the Ukrainian military and also the hold of the rightwing Ukrainian media over the public, which now faces the contradictions and dissonance between what the Media tells them and what they know from painful experience up close — the conscription squads, the cemeteries and rumors, rumors, rumors?
There will be tipping point, probably this year—then either surrender or revolution - and maybe a Russia-friendly government wanting to take back control of the country from the US and Europe which are eager to rape and pillage its resources.
All that is a long process.
And the Russians will keep Trump doing the only thing he is really good at — talking, talking, talking….. And in the meantime, they are polite, professional and uphold the norms of international diplomacy, winning the trust of the global majority.

Can anyone in the USA imagine winning a war? Which they have not done for decades.........except for Grenada!
How would the USA act if they ever won a war..............they would lay down conditions exactly as the Russians have done.
Might I remind you 'sheepie' people that Russia did not start this war!
USA starts wars and then 'runs away when it gets tough!
Go ahead USA. PULL out all your despicable bases from Europe/take with you your disgusting MacDonalds etc.
Around every American 'war bases' there is corruption.
SO do abandon your bases in Europe. Which I guarantee they will not.
Minor quibble:
'Today, the Russians took back the last village in Ukraine."
I think you meant "Russia"or Kursk Oblast".
Watching the USA try to do diplomacy ranges from madly hysterical to intensely painful. Somehow having two New York City real estate developers, one of whom is so crooked he could hide behind a corkscrew is fascinating.
Neither of the two New York City real estate developers seem to know anything about the countries or regions that they are dealing with. Steve Witkoff, given five years or so to learn his subject areas and a little about how one does diplomacy might do alright.
The fact that the White House or State keep talking about their contact with Moscow or Berlin, only to have this denied shows Donny's ineptitude. I suspect it is driving Witkoff crazy.
