One of the things that Putin alluded to in his Victory Day speech – obliquely, of course – was Western involvement in Russia's Chechen troubles back in the Yeltsin.
We remember how Russia’s enemies tried to use international terrorist gangs against us, how they tried to seed inter-ethnic and religious strife so as to weaken us from within and divide us.
They failed completely.
Today, our warriors of different ethnicities are fighting together, shielding each other from bullets and shrapnel like brothers. This is where the power of Russia lies, a great invincible power of our united multi-ethnic nation. Putin Victory Day Speech
While the US was courting Yeltsin, clapping him on the back for his anti-Communism and anti-Sovietism and for opening up the country to McDonald's and Western carpetbaggers while pouring him yet another vodka – "Boris we love you!" – the CIA was hard at work, trying to do to Russia's Islamic underbelly in Chechnya and Dagestan and elsewhere what it had done to progressive forces in Afghanistan. It was organizing and funding radical jihadists such as Al Qaeda and others leveraging separatist sympathies..
The result was death and destruction, some of which came back to haunt the US.
How quickly we forget!
What goes round comes round —yet there can be no doubt that the US since 1945 has been—and continues to be— the greatest sponsor of terrorism and extremist violence the world has seen. The Russians warned the Americans it come back to haunt them. As usual, the Americans paid no attention.
No matter – Putin came and now the Chechens are fight the West in the Ukraine.
But only recently has anybody in the West paid much attention to CIA involvement in terrorist activities in central Asia and Russia, of which everyone there was aware of. Inconvenient truths are best omitted.
I have been following American involvement in death and destruction for a long time and have commented on on it in various posts and special articles – especially the last couple in the Putin series. But who am I? A relative nobody. And not a certified member of the podcast community.
Suddenly, however, others —notably Larry Johnson and Wilkerson—are paying attention to the American role in dark deeds and subversion– the nasty stuff that only Nazis or Commies are supposed to do. Maybe Larry and ilk read me!
No matter. It's nice to be ahead of the pack—although it’s not actually difficult. Taking time to Read and Research makes a difference. The “pack” spends most of its time peeing on hydrants.
Putin’s victory day speech was addressed to the Russian people and his allies, like China – not to the “West”.
It made one thing clear: while Russia has repeatedly tried to negotiated and offered all kinds of compromises, that time is over. Now is the time for victory. Which means —an extended “now” —continuing the SMO as a proxy war against the beasts lurking on Russian borders, as they have for two hundred years. It will take time, because these beasts cannot be hunted; they will become extinct like the dinosaurs when the climate changed and they starved for lack of prey.
Putin has said that this conflict is for truth and justice and moral values—none of which matter to the Western collective that comprises the G7. I’m not saying that I agree with his moral values – but at least he has some. In the West there is only greed.
In such a situation, there can be no meeting of the minds, no agreements, no trust until that neoliberal, neocolonial, neo-imperialist civilization, neo-neo things that grew out of British and European imperialisms – and then their American successor fails. As I said, until the dinosaurs die. Or evolve into birds.
Putin understands that words mean nothing in this conflict. Only action matters in the last resort. But such action needs to be strategic, careful, and adaptive=--never reactive. The climate is indeed changing. Not just environmentally, but politically, culturally, socially.
“Talk” is a smoke screen. Screams in the jungle. “Negotiation” ? Really?
Putin also understands that this generational war is for the West \a war of choice, the choice being made by what the eminent “Bob” calls the “parasite class” –your owners. They are rapacious, all appetite.
For Russians, it is existential. It is nurturing a generation of heroes, not parasites. The veterans of the war are the ones who will run Russia in the future.

After witnessing the 80 year celebrations & parade. Taking in the various leaders & militaries. The words delivered by Putin. For the 1st time the staggering rise of Russia under Putin. Became apparent to the whole World on such a scale. I honestly believe it was an historical moment. The level of everything wasnt just a league above what the West has become. It was light years of anything I've witnessed in the West. I'm nearly 60 now, I've witnessed many things. The huge pomp & parade of the end of the British Royal family. The state funeral of Queen Elizabeth 2 (I'm British) was a sight to behold. But the parade I've just witnessed in Moscow, the emotions, the speeches. Everything about it had an international a World encompassing event. Not a national event like the Queens funeral for all many world representatives were at both. Only 1 was inclusive of the rising powers of the World. The sight of Putin & XI sitting together. The many leaders welcomed by Putin. The immaculate militaries of the countries represented just had something different than the norm. It was a statement to the World. The Western response 4 amateurs talking bullshit yet again. Just showed how pathetic our Western countries have become.
Your comment about the CIA spreading death and destruction reminded me that back in the late 1970's I had known two Libyan students . They didn't care for the USA ; not because of it's support for Israel but because the CIA was setting off bombs in Libyan cities in order to destabilise the country .
