Trump Fiddling' About
The conflict in Ukraine is a US proxy war with Russia, not a war between Ukraine and Russia.
The US can't "mediate" between Russia and Ukraine, the US itself is a co-belligerent.
The US engineered this war and each day provides Ukraine AND Europe with the material resources, intelligence, and directives to continue the war.
Each day this war continues is the US choosing to continue it. At any time of its choosing the US can end this war.
The Trump administration has choosen to not only continue the war, it is using negotiations to stall any decisive conclusion in Russia's favor as it openly commands Europe to double down on and if possible, freeze the war for continuation at a later date.
As the US openly wages war and proxy war in the Middle East and threatens even wider war with Iran all while continuing to encroach upon and threaten China, the notion America wants "peace" with Russia is a fevered dream among those who've lost their ability to reason amid a tidal wave of false hope.
The US needs time and space to defeat its enemies - including Russia - in detail. Negotiations are a means to pose as wanting peace, while buying that time and space for winning its many and multiplying wars. Brian Berletic on X
This is what I have been saying for some time. On Larry Johnson’s site I was (apparently) the Official Trump Skeptic (sorry Brian) the Doctorow AntiChrist – or was until now that Larry has taken over my role.
But Brian lays it out so much better than I have. Simple. Succinct. To the point. This is what analysts are supposed to do.

But recently, I wonder what happened?
Gilbert Doctorow now just doubles down semi-coherently on his notion that Trump is a “master” of something another — so not to worry.
Dr. Doctorow has recently criticized no less that Alastair Crooke, who appears regularly on the Judge’s program — also. Mearsheimer and Wilkinson. It is clear that that he thinks they are unable to follow Trump’s magical misdirections in the interests of ...um...ummm…whatever—how would I know? —I’m not a stable genius .
But Dil..er.,,Gilbert “gets” Trump.
Enough to vote for him anyway.
In the case of Crooke, Doctorow writes.
Given the centrality of subjugation of Iran in Trump’s thinking, per Alastair Crooke, the outreach to Russia today only serves the purpose of drawing Moscow back from thoughts of assisting Iran should it come under attack.
He obviously doesn’t agree, But doesn’t really explain why not.
I guess he thinks Crooke is mystified by Trump magic.
What I see in Alastair Crooke’s argument is proof positive that Donald Trump is succeeding in spreading confusion among all observers in order to keep his own hands free.

Somehow we must ignore minor issues like war and peace as the Donald fiddles about — with Ukraine, Yemen, Lebanon, Gaza and Iran
Alastair is, as I said, firstly an expert on the Middle East. Accordingly, his interpretation of the situation proceeds from that fact, whereas I am an expert on Russian affairs, and my insistence on the centrality of the rapprochement with Russia in Trump’s thinking may be said to proceed from my own professional bias.
Thank god for geniuses! For “experts”! Brian Berlectic misled us with errant sophistry, namely facts!

I don’t know how to characterize Mercouris these days. I really think he needs to move from London. And stop reading FT. Just sayin’ .
He is still talking about Russia and the US doing a deal on the basis of Putin’s June 2024 statement of minimum conditions despite that statement saying those conditions would change along with facts on the ground, which have changed a lot since the summer last year. Always read the fine print.
Mercouris used to be a lawyer but I am not sure I would want him representing me.
The two A’s talked a lot-today - about a Black Sea “ceasefire” or “agreement” but what they didn’t mention is the possibility that Putin might be maneuvering the US towards new demands and new conditions, added onto what he specified months ago.
Russia has been destroying Ukrainian drone assets in the Odessa region, along with NATO operators. It wants the US to stop its ISR over the Black Sea, dangling the prospect of a new grain deal identical to the last one that that the West never honored.
Of course, it knows that there will be no agreement. This is just political theatre. Reality TV. The show must go on. The war must go on.
Alex watches too much Desperate Housewives - he implies what Doctorow also insists - that Russia is desperate for rapprochement – it just wants to kiss and make up.
Needless to say, he does not say much about Russia’s ongoing war crimes trials targeting Ukrainian Nazis. Nor does he mention the huge amount of publicity that the horror stories are garnering in Russia where an angry public wants justice, if not revenge, which can only be obtained with an unconditional surrender, which Trump doesn’t want to talk about.
The Trump people are allowing arms that Biden authorized for Ukraine to continue flowing and is still providing ISR— no matter what they say— which means that Ukraine can likely fight on until the summer this year or even longer.
By which time, Russia should have made even more progress in the Donbas, Kharkov and the South. The Nazis can all move to Canada.

I like Alastair Crooke simply because he is the best informed analyst for the Middle East, with extensive experience,. He lives there. When he speaks, I listen. I should also mention, he is on of the very few AltMedia personalities who has quoted my work.
To continue discussing the details and minutia of what is occurring in Ukraine is a waste of time, no matter who is making the presentation, with exception of the extraordinary Alistair Crooke, who is now the only analyst I listen to.
Ukraine is done. The conflict itself will end when Russia decides to end it. That's it.
Anything the West does, short of a nuclear exchange, is just the West wasting everyone's time and money. The West has no capable weapons to speak of in terms of taking on Russia's advanced systems. In terms of the economies of scale required to support industrial-level warfare as Russia is currently doing, there is no single or combined set of western economies that can achieve this since the West no longer produces anything. This is especially true of the United States.
So where Trump is just playing checkers (which is probably the extent of his mental capabilities), President Putin is playing 3-dimensional chess.
And even our illustrious Pentagon personnel have no clue as to how to even apply military, scientific mathematics to the conflict, which the Russian Armed Forces rely on everyday for their decision-making activities.
President Putin and President Xi are simply waiting out The Empire until it collapses internally, which it will. They they will then take over the West economically and force it to adopt to the newly evolving world order.
Beyond this, everything else is just noise...
