Even educated folk in the west have rarely heard about it. That's because it was not based on power or the pillaging of weaker nations, it was based on trade. Fair trade.
It was - and this may come as a surprise to you - a German idea. It did their economy a power of good.
I have never heard of the Hansestic League but I am well aquainted with the concept of individual and group self determination. I think the harmonious diversity of sub group personal preferences within the larger national group has never even been properly aired and even if it was clarified an idea has to get born and be lived to get real. Humanity is very far away from that but at least in a real multipolar world of sovereign nations one nation might figure it out and create a workable model others might like.
To be honest, business is relatively simple. Simple enough for the ordinary, non-academic mind to get their heads around.
I would suggest that the success of the Hanseatic League was due to this simple point. It was not based on any one country being better than any other, but on the basis of people who wanted to do business. That the UK did not feature large in the League was to its detriment because a lot of money was to be made there.
As to sovereign nations figuring this out - as mentioned, this is not an issue that will tax the intellectual mind - sovereign nations have sorted out something of the kind, and it's called the BRICS. What's more, it's doing pretty well, despite the activities of the US and UK.
I wonder if the Hanseatic League is relevant to the coming of Jewish Banks to Europe. There is a novel by Leon Feuchtwangler - The Jew Seuss - which deals with the period of the globalist Jewish banks taking over trade and self-governance from the German population. The period it is set in is the Baroque I would guess, but the Hanseatic League lasted until the 18th C by some accounts, so it fits.
The film is worth seeing and can be found at the Internet Archive, or could be recently. Made in the late 1930's or early 40's. Avoid the sickening, treacly, zio-propaganda-riddled British version. Actually the Hanseatic League was extinguished by the Thirty Years' War which was in the 1600s.
To be honest, with the Jews (and I am not speaking of Zionists here) are very good businessmen and so it is clear that they would be good bankers. I will remind you that they were assimilated into German culture and were German citizens. The divide you speak of came largely as a result of the Zionist intervention that led to the rise of Hitler.

I doubt you know as much about how Jews were treated in Europe as I do. The kind of information I have is from very scarce sources - largely because they have been swamped by the kind of book you mention.

It was a great deal more than re-arming Germany. In the run-up to Hitler seizing power, the US forced its businesses to dis-invest in Germany. It caused a great deal of pain, which was used by the media to promote Hitler as the answer to their problems. (The AfD is being promoted as the "anti-war" party today, amongst a few other things. But this is only a promise... and promises from parties like the AfD and of course, Trump, are not worth the paper they are printed on).

Those bankers you mention are central bankers. Interestingly, Germany's small banks are a cornerstone of their economy, they can issue loans of 75 years should they choose. What's more - and you have to hand it to the Germans for this - these loans are repaid on time.
The ECB is situated in Frankfurt for obvious reasons: to besmirch the Germans for the things the ECB does to Europe on behalf of their paymasters.
