Special Article Update
The special article has gotten long— totally close to 6000 words, so I am cutting and simplifying — but will probably still have to publish in two parts. Ummm….this one is, well, “special”.
I'll start working on the mailing list for the first part tomorrow so I can send it out in a couple of days.
The reason it's taking so long is simply that there are so many different opinions.
Orthodox Western-trained economists will tell you that the dollar will remain the reserve currency until at least 2040 or 2050— the world will simply not give up the financial mechanisms of world trade that it has used since the inception of the petrodollar ” in the 1970s— that no one wants to risk a global crash.
Other economists and socio-political analysts say that a global crash is likely anyway due to America's runaway debt the hollowing out of G-7 economies. And that, in the event that such a crash occurs, no one will want to use the dollar or the financial mechanism set up to support it.
As a result, many countries are looking for alternatives to protect themselves. Russia has shown how an economy can grow cut off from the Western financial system.
Michael Hudson says:
The dollar will remain strong, given the euro’s problems.
The only thing that could threaten it would be a real civilizational break by the Global Majority. That will take a while.
That “real civilizational break” is what Russia is all about— something I've been saying for some time. Multi-polarity cannot happen without such a break. Nor the reinvention of Russia .
“Unipolarity” assumes a single dominant civilization and culture— that of the US. But its time is past.
I think the word “break”. Something will “break” sooner or later. My bet is sooner than people expect.
Why I think it will be sooner is in the Special Article.

Ichi’s dating blues
I had pretty much decided to adopt the sweet 13-year-old female cat, Kin.
But it turns out she has a liver problem and is on medication. I haven't given up completely but I will go out to the shelter which is in the next Prefecture, about an hour and 1/2 from where I live and talk to the shelter people.
I don't want Ichi to lose another friend prematurely. He had trouble recovering from losing his BFF, Jet and I don't want him to undergo that kind of trauma again.
Kin may be better in the shelter. It's a very good shelter. It has vets who donate their services. And Kin is much loved there.
