Shortly I shall publish my proposals for UK government policy, one of which is complete ending of all interference in the affairs of other countries. I might write to my MP, but the system is specifically designed to prevent anyone like me from exerting the slightest influence on government.

In the US and Europe, we have been just like those Marines and soldiers! The Russians/Chinese/Iranians/South Africans just completed joint exercises last week off South Africa. Ships have now departed the area and are headed up the east coast of Africa. It's about 15-20 days sailing time to get to Kuwait so much less time to get to where the US forces are arrayed. There are already a few non-NATO forces in the area. Current disposition (to the best of my knowledge) looks like this:
Russian Udaloy-class frigate RFS Marshal Shaposhnikov (F543) and the oiler Boris Butoma are near Qatar. The Russian corvette RFS Stoikiy (545) and fleet oiler Yelnya are inbound following combined Iranian/Chinese/Russian exercises near South Africa ending last week.
China usually has a 3-ship flotilla in the Gulf of Aden most recently including the Type 052D destroyer Urumqi, the frigate Linyi, and a supply ship. Their ships that participated in the South African exercise and now moving north are the destroyer CNS Tangshan (122), fleet oiler CNS Taihu (889), and the frigate Daqing (576).
Meanwhile the Iranian contingent sailing north along the east coast of Africa includes the Makran / 441, Naghdi / 44 and the Shahid Mahdavi / L110-3. The last ship mentioned was in the news last year as a prototype Q-ship, hosting missile launchers in ocean containers.
