Who's your Fuhrer?

One must remember that the SMO, if it is a war, is a war of liberation, with Western Ukraine attempting to occupy Eastern and Southern Ukraine and enforce an odious ideology that would deny the humanity of the people of these regions and Russia seeking to free them.

Donbas, Lugansk, Zaporozhe, and Kherson each voted to exercise their right of self-determination under international law, first to secede from Ukraine, and later to join the Russian Federation, actions which the neo-Nazis, who seized power in 2014, supported by the US and UK, sought to stop through violent ethnic cleansing.

Putin has said in various speeches that Western peoples have forgotten what Nazism was all about. kind of exceptionalism which allowed one people, Aryans to declre themselves superior and more evolved and force their will and their rules on other nations.

“Forgotten” is a rather charitable term — the West certainly remembers, which is why it keeps on developing new forms of fascism. If once you don’t succeed…..

First there was Italy. Remember Ethiopia? Ah, colonial dreams.

In 1939, Germany had its form of fascism, at first much admired in the UK and the US. It targeted Jews, of course. But, in those days everybody did. Germany’s real target, however, was that perennial favorite—Russia, which the French, British, Turks and Japanese all sought to dominate. If once you don’t succeed.

Today neo fascism is still a German thing. Although the pitch has been cleaned up to get rid of the racial stuff, which is very “unwoke”.

Russophobia and Sinophobia have been embraced enthusiastically by France and the rest of Europe (with one or two exceptions) and the UK, Canada, Australia and all the other countries that make up the American Empire who are all for “difference” as long as it certified “normal”.

The new fascism is the newest consumer thing, marketed in all shapes and sizes, just one of which is neo-Nazism, which is no longer “Nazi” but “Nationalist”. Cover up your “kill a Jew for Christ” tattoo with military fatigues and say you are a Freedom Fighter. But really, this kind of fascism is kinda low-brow. Really, really high-level fascism is ever so subtle and sophisticated.

Zionism is rather unsubtle fascism.

You gotta love it— because if you don’t —you may lose your job or get kicked out school, get deported, or end up in jail. Someone will come knocking on your door. They will look like the Gestapo but they have wear blue pr ugly green vest and protect and serve (rich white people only!)

In this country, alas, nothing is free. Even speech. You gotta pay.

Is there do-it-yourself fascism? Sure.

It’s not hard to cash in on some kind of fascism. All you have to do is what Hitler recommended in Mein Kampf (as explained in my long special article 3 in the Putin series.

Make sure that “facts’ are adjusted to tell the right story. If you are political, it has to be an historical story.

Can you really get away with dumb, simple-minded lies? Hitler did. Trump does.

One should add , however, that apathy is even harder to shake than faith.

Despite the variations, all forms of fascism are defined by exceptionalism, and the power to a few schtick. Colonialism is one form. Imperialism is another. “Militarism” still another. “Neoliberalism” still another. And the “inverted totalitarianism” of the US another. Some would say capitalism, too.

Oh, and most jobs.

As I write in Article 3 of the Putin series, we face the end of civilization in the West. That’s hard for me to admit as a Canadian— but fortunately I live in Asia.

In any case, my best friends all have tails. I am not really civilized, although partly house-trained and have learned to beg on command.

One last thing — let us remember as Victory Day approaches, that. in most cases, there is no “winning” wars of any kind — you’re just lucky not to lose.
