Yes, Biden does the impossible— he makes Trump a truthteller!!
In writing my special article -- the one that began way back in February focusing on Biden's State of the Union address. I faced a major problem – the same one I guess the rest of the world has to deal with. It wasn't just Biden saying patently foolish things like claiming to have inherited the mantle of FDR and Abraham Lincoln-- it wasn’t just the exaggerations and jingoistic posturing-- nor even the incoherence of the speech in general. Biden after all is just one man, proving that some really are too old to rock & roll!
Of course, a President, contrary to what Presidents recently suppose , are not the government, nor the society.
What Biden’s speech actually did was inadvertently put the spotlight on underlying contradictions beyond his own dysfunctionality and lies—contradictions that are likely to lead to the collapse of the American federal state..
Churchill
Speeches, speeches, speeches….Politicians say all kinds of shit.
In 1939, Churchill said of Russia:
I cannot forecast to you the action of Russia. It is a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma:but perhaps there is a key.
Now, Churchill was a good writer.
The comment was quoted everywhere. It appealed emotionally.
But it was also disingenous — the kind of thing politicians say when they want people to stop thinking or looking at the facts or consider what is about to happen, which in this case is a war that Churchill seemed to want.
Political leader love to pretend something is a “mystery” to which only THEY have the “key”. There was nothing mysterious about Russia— if you thought of them as human beings with the same needs and wants as your own.
“Exceptionalists” like Churchill and others do not see those “beyond the pale” as really huma In 919, Churchill called Russian revolutionaries “baboons”
In 1939, Churchill saw conflict between Russia and Germany, who felt the same way about Russians did. I think he wanted war. He could have brokered a deal between Nazi Germany and proto-fascist Poland but didn’t confident of the superiority of French and British forces together.
But, by 1941, he needed Russia as an ally—not quite human or not. Suddenly, the No. 1 Baboon was Uncle Joe.
Biden is no Churchill of course.
Not because his intentions and desires are better: he just can’t remember where he put the nuclear keys. Anyway, I don’t think he knows who Churchill was!
He recently had a bust of Winnie removed from is office. But that was because Trump had put it there. God knows who he thought it was.
On the other hand, he apparently thinks that only Americans are human—and then only card-carrying Democrats.
Riddles, mysteries, and other imponderables.
The US, of course, doesn’t even understand itself—it is a “riddle” unto itself.
And politicans are the baboons.
Wait a second, baboons have more class. of — semi-sentient?
There is no Intelligent Design by either God or Devil here.
The US is a tangle that just happened and got worse.
How do you untangle something.?
If it’s hair-- you might end up just getting frustrated and cutting it out.
If it is electrical cords and wires– it takes patience and time. You have to identify the beginning and end of each cord and separate it from the others. Or maybe just dump the whole mess and start again!
Now a political, cultural and social tangle — that’s a REAL mess!
I am not sure what you do. The system needs to be replaced.
Windows as a Metaphor
It reminds me a bit of Windows 11 -- which seems to have a lot of the same problems that affected Windows 98.
The Microsoft people just kept on adding stuff on —adding “value” that had no value to make money. They didn't care that much about the users’ experience. Now so much Internet traffic is people trying to figure out what's wrong with their computers. And failing.
So many people are turning to Linux.
Here in the blogosphere, the real question is therefore: ”Is there a Linux version of the US”? An “open source” political system ?
Fake Achievements
In the case of Biden's speech he pointed to the "achievements" of his various big-budget initiatives which were supposed to fix poverty, healthcare, infrastructure, education, industrialization, etc. etc— some of those programs bipartisan – all of them of failures!
The goals were okay— but unrealizable given a “system” that works for the Few, not for you or me.
Biden, the Liar in Chief, of course, insists his policies are not failures and points to various metrics-- which turned out to be either misleading or simply lies. Sophisticated lies — but still lies, as you can see in detail in the article (link above) or here. Liar, liar…pants on fire.
There are fixes. But those fixes will require a revolution. And the liars have to go.
Baboons
Baboons have a bad reputation. Fighting, killing, bullying. Just like Americans.
Zoos generally don't like them very much.
in recent years, some groups of baboons have evolved, with diseases or conflict killing off dominant. aggressive males. Once those nasty guys at the top were gone, things changed and the suddenly a more pacific culture emerged and was passed on. As I wrote in my last article, behavioral traits are heritable.
Cultures CAN change. If Baboons can do it, Americans can too.

You are quite right. I should have given the full quote. That said, if Russia is a mystery so to is its national interest, which Churchill was consistently mistaken about. And which the Americans are also mistaken about.
Whatever you may think of Churchill, he had a point with that quote about Russia. If you quote it fully and correctly, that is: “I cannot forecast to you the action of Russia. It is a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma: but perhaps there is a key. THAT KEY IS RUSSIAN NATIONAL INTEREST.”
