Just a respectful correction: I don't think Hitler was elected. He was appointed to office by von Hindenburg.

A really good point, thank you. He was not elected. But his appointment was part of a "democratic" process. I should not have used the word "elected" insofar as it confuses events.

From the Holocaust Encyclopedia.

How did Adolf Hitler come to power in 1933?

The Nazis continued to win over voters in the early 1930s. In the July 1932 parliamentary elections, the Nazis won 37 percent of the vote. This was more votes than any other party received. In November 1932, the Nazi share of the vote fell to 33 percent. However, this was still more votes than any other party won.

The Nazi Party’s electoral successes made it difficult to govern Germany without them. Hitler and the Nazis refused to work with other political parties. Hitler demanded to be appointed as chancellor. German President Paul von Hindenburg initially resisted this demand. However, he gave in and appointed Hitler as Chancellor of Germany on January 30, 1933.

Hindenburg appointed Hitler to this position as the result of a political deal. Certain conservative politicians convinced President Hindenburg to make the appointment. They wanted to use the Nazi Party’s popularity for their own purposes. They mistakenly believed that they could control Hitler.

In January 1933, Hitler did not immediately become a dictator. When he became chancellor, Germany’s democratic constitution was still in effect. However, Hitler transformed Germany by manipulating the democratic political system. Hitler and other Nazi leaders used existing laws to destroy German democracy and create a dictatorship.

When considering those who write for Alzheimer's joe and the Sepan Bandera history of the Ukies, this may be appropriate: If you repeat a lie often enough, people will believe it, and you will even come to believe it yourself.

Agreed! But cognitively impaired Hebrews. Not a Disraeli among them. Bringing to mind: One of the delightful things about Americans is that they have absolutely no historical memory.

SPOT ON! So many have learned their history from Hollywood. Most people, in fact, will not take the trouble in finding out the truth, but are much more inclined to accept the first story they hear.

I like your post! Unable to like via substack. There is only one party in the United States, the Property Party...and it has two right wings: Republican and Democrat. Republicans are a bit stupider, more rigid, more doctrinaire in their laissez-faire capitalism than the Democrats, who are cuter, prettier, a bit more corrupt - until recently... and more willing than the Republicans to make small adjustments when the poor, the black, the anti-imperialists get out of hand. But, essentially, there is no difference between the two parties.

As the head of the largest Nazi-infested army of our time, Zelensky's mere invitation to the event was a desecration to all the Soviets who died fighting the Nazi war machine. It seems he probably has three possible outcomes before much longer. He will take his loot and run; he will go into his bunker and blow his brains out; or inside forces will do it for him.

It really was obscene. And without the HUGE sacrifices and courage of the Russian people the allies never would have won WW II. The fact they were disinvited to the ceremony was grotesque. Biden, in all his disjointed bumbling stupidity and arrogance is the PERFECT symbol for today's America. Trump is the runner-up.

Pathetic.
