We also had 'social evolution' in Russia in 1917 and onwards, leading to the fearmongering of communism (brought many good things like literacy, infrastructure, schools, hospitals) and the destruction of generations in world war 2 and the cold war. One of my favorite actors is Adam Schiff... he gave a 200 million loan to Japan during the 1904-1905 Russo-Japan war. That created chaos in Russia and created a sense of superiority in Japan.
