BTW over $1.95 billion of Venezuela's gold reserves is held in the Bank of England's underground vaults.

The UK High Court rebuffed a demand by the Venezuelan government to be granted access to some $1 billion worth of the country’s gold reserves that are currently stored at the Bank of England. Britain’s top court rejected a recent decision by the Venezuelan Supreme Court, which had backed President Nicolas Maduro’s request to have the gold repatriated from the UK. The UK recognized Guaido as the rightful Venezuelan president in early 2019, along with some 50 other countries. Upon his recognition, Guaido asked the Bank of England not to grant Maduro's government access to the country’s gold it holds. Maduro’s BCV board then sued the Bank of England in an effort to reclaim the funds.

Experts say the UK court’s decision is unprecedented, because it amounts to a country’s constitution being interpreted by a court of a different country. Some 31 tons of Venezuelan gold worth roughly $1.5 billion are currently held at the Bank of England.

In short, England stole Venezuela's gold.

“Pirates” !☠️

Thanks for airing the truth reported by Craig Murray about Venezuela. Delsi Rodriquez is very smart in the way she deals with the American Psychopathic Pirate . A Killer of Humanity.

The ordinary citizen is beautifully educated about this social reality and learning to be resilient in the use of local materials. Patience will win I’m sure.

Thanks - it needs sharing

No, thanks to you! You're the one who found the article, which was a breath of fresh air as I waded through all the other media muck.

Thanks for posting this. Murray's analysis here is sublime - his videos on his travels add to the deeply layered insights captured in his prose.

This is uplifting for those who still see what can be done when humans choose to work and build.

The small cabal of ghouls commanding the US and it's vassals are a cancer on humanity.

Pessimisme more than optimism remains after reading the article. Optimism on how the people live in Venezuela, the society Craig describes. Pessimisme about how the USA destroys and has destroyed so many lives, countries and societies to a point that it hurts: The incompetence of not being able to change, to eradicate this cancer entirely from the world.

I think you are both right and wrong. Right because things are going to get a lot worse. Optimism because it is only extreme challenge that generates social evolution. IMO.

Julian, I think you are both right and wrong:-) It is going to get a lot worse, but we are here dealing with an actor, that is still very well capable to keep on destroying societies for decades. We also had 'social evolution' in Russia in 1917 and onwards, leading to the fearmongering of communism (brought many good things like literacy, infrastructure, schools, hospitals) and the destruction of generations in world war 2 and the cold war. One of my favorite actors is Adam Schiff... he gave a 200 million loan to Japan during the 1904-1905 Russo-Japan war. That created chaos in Russia and created a sense of superiority in Japan. As they say: the rest is history. Schiff didn't have a plan, didn't expect the outcome, just had a hatred towards the Tsar cause he treated the Jewish population badly.

Note: I also read elsewhere that he had an affection for Japan.

The Trump regime will reside in infamy, forever. A more corrupt collection of greedy demonic devils has never been in one governing body in modern history. Trump make Hitler look like a Sunday school teacher.

Marledonna's avatar

I think you are missing the point: Trump is just the face, a puppet. It’s the outlaw empire that destroys and has destroyed many countries, notably Libya, but many more, even before Trump and even continents as it’s more and more clear that the USA had a big hand in the 2nd world war, but also in the first world war (lookup Nye committee and the merchants of death, where the USA entered the war to prevent an economic collapse at home as Germany was on the winning hand and the bankers were afraid they wouldn’t get the money back from England and France)

Julian Macfarlane's avatar

IMO, you're both right.

By 1917, American banks, led by J.P. Morgan & Co., had floated billions of dollars in loans to Great Britain and France to finance their war efforts. If Germany won the war, the Allies would likely default on these massive debts, which would have devastated the U.S. banking sector and the broader economy. : The committee argued that these powerful financial and commercial interests heavily pressured President Woodrow Wilson's administration to enter the war to safeguard their investments.

Sound familiar somehow?

What is also familiar was that Senator Nye was cancelled, cause he talked negatively about a dead president (Wilson), who knew Britain and France had already carved up the middle east after the Ottomans where defeated: Sykes-Picot (see below). They needed a stick to shut him down.

The important part about Senator Nye is that he HAD the documents from JP Morgan that PROVED the massive gains made by JP Morgan during that war. We often have to speculate, cause they don't give us insight in their documents. Nye had the power to demand them.

And if you are on it: also look at Standard Oil and it's role in WW2:

Standard Oil was investigated and legally targeted in March 1942 for antitrust violations and collusion. The Department of Justice and the U.S. Senate Truman Committee charged Standard Oil of New Jersey with prioritizing its pre-war cartel agreements over American national security

Gemini on Sykes-Picot (apologies for the formatting)

France and Great Britain explicitly planned to carve up the Middle East through a secret 1916 agreement known as the Sykes-Picot Agreement, which anticipated the defeat of the Ottoman Empire. Officially called the Asia Minor Agreement, this treaty drew arbitrary lines across the region to divide Arab provinces into British and French spheres of influence. The Sykes-Picot Agreement (1916)Secret Negotiations: Conducted secretly by French diplomat François Georges-Picot and British diplomat Mark Sykes.French Spheres: Maintained direct control and influence over modern-day Lebanon, Syria, and southern Turkey.British Spheres: Secured direct control over modern-day Iraq, Jordan, and southern Israel/Palestine.International Zone: Slated Palestine (specifically Jerusalem) for international administration due to its holy sites.Conflicting PromisesMcMahon–Hussein Correspondence: Britain previously promised Arab leaders an independent Arab state in exchange for revolting against the Ottomans.Balfour Declaration (1917): Britain simultaneously expressed official support for establishing a "national home for the Jewish people" in Palestine. The Aftermath and ImplementationSan Remo Conference (1920): Formalized the Sykes-Picot framework under the League of Nations as "Mandates" instead of colonies.Modern Borders: Created modern borders that largely ignored local ethnic, tribal, and religious lines.Ongoing Conflict: Laid the structural groundwork for decades of geopolitical instability in the Middle East.

Geimini on Standard Oil:

The historical record absolutely supports the assertion that Standard Oil played a crucial role in enabling the Nazi war machine through its aggressive pursuit of global monopolies and pre-war tech transfers. The specific mechanisms through which the company directly aided the German military before and during World War II reveal the following details:The Tetraethyl Lead (TEL) TransferThe Critical Additive: Tetraethyl lead was a highly controlled, vital gasoline additive needed to raise octane levels for aviation fuel. Without it, modern military planes—including the German Luftwaffe—could not fly efficiently. The 1938 Shipment: In 1938, under the leadership of Walter C. Teagle, Standard Oil’s British subsidiary shipped 500 tons of tetraethyl lead directly to Germany. Historians note that Germany lacked the resources to produce this booster on its own at the time, meaning Standard Oil literally helped get the Luftwaffe off the ground just prior to the invasions of Poland and France.Manufacturing Fabrication: Standard Oil didn't just ship the product; through its joint ventures with I.G. Farben, it provided the specialized patents, technical blueprints, and manufacturing know-how so Nazi Germany could build its own TEL production plants on German soil.Fueling the Synthetic Oil InfrastructureCoal-to-Gasoline Technology: Nazi Germany had vast coal reserves but almost no domestic crude oil. Standard Oil shared its advanced hydrogenation patents with I.G. Farben, which allowed the Nazis to master the fabrication of synthetic gasoline made from coal.Wartime Monopolies: This specific American-supplied technology formed the backbone of Germany's synthetic fuel infrastructure, producing a massive percentage of the high-octane aviation fuel used during the Blitzkrieg.Selling Fuel and Materials During the WarThe Neutral Country Route: After the war broke out in Europe, Standard Oil utilized subsidiaries and shipped oil under neutral flags (such as Panama) to keep trading. They shipped oil to neutral ports in North Africa and South America, where it was subsequently re-routed to the Axis powers.Refueling Axis Airlines: Even into late 1941, Standard Oil’s Brazilian subsidiary continued to supply fuel to Syndicato Condor, a German-controlled airline operated by the Nazis in South America. Standard Oil executives argued during the Truman hearings that they only stopped doing so when the U.S. State Department explicitly threatened to blacklist their South American assets.Ultimately, while the company avoided formal capital charges due to its irreplaceable role in refining fuel for the Allied military, their corporate collusion provided the literal fuel and technology that allowed the Nazi military to initiate a global war
