In researching Vladimir Putin I noticed that Western sources – political academic, , and journalistic – have an exaggerated and violent animus towards him, not just as a leader or for his political policies or actions in the public sphere or as a representative a culturr whose values conflict with their own- but personally.
They hate his policies. They hate his culture. And since they hate everything he represents: they hate the representative – the person.
It is full-spectrum demonization.
Yet, this complete and visceral antipathy is dressed up as something different. Western cultures are not only intellectually but emotionally dishonest and manipulative,
Personal attacks on Putin are a useful device.
“We don’t hate Russia or Russians. Just Putin—and everything he believes in”.
“Everything” includes Russia and Russians because they believe in the same things he does. Which of course they can’t say that openly. It would be politically incorrect— so they focus on Putin da’ Man.
Putin’s Russia is not a traditional authoritarian regime but a new phenomenon: a mafia state that weaponizes corruption, thrives on inequality, and exports nihilism. Its goal is not to build a rival ideology but to destroy the very idea of truth. Timothy Snyder.Richard C. Levin Professor of History at Yale University
Opinion leaders
Western opinion leaders often dismiss Putin as a power-hungry, psychopathic dictator – a “killer” who seeks world domination – like Hitler—who ironically was not a psychopath nor ever sought world domination-- just control of the “heartland” that is Russia, mimicking 19th-century American expansionism in North America and its genocides of non-American populations.
Such expansionism and hegemony requires genocide. Which Hitler learned from the American and British.
What is genocide?
A crime-committed with the intent to destroy a national, ethnic, racial or religious group, in whole or in part.
Genocides occur when civilizations or cultures conflict and one murders the other.
Human beings usually recoil at murder -- it is a genetic thing – so to overcome that inhibition, people have be a taught a worldview that dehumanizes the “other”. Unless of course they are psychopaths, which is also a genetic thing. Putin is the straw man to cover up the moral contradictions.
How do we learn to kill?
How do we teach such a worldview?
We tell our kids stories that have no basis in fact— but offer convenient assumptions and memes that can be emotionally embedded and manipulated, often in a different context, to generate hate. Cognitive adjustments enable visceral animus.
So it is that we get most our most destructive assumptions about other cultures first at home, then in elementary school, and after that in junior high school history classes.
What I call “schematic narrative templates” are rather like religious creeds. Just without apostles.
In lieu of apostles we have our best and brightest in education, the media and government, who actually have no ideas of their own – just different translations of the same text.
In the US, “republican” or “democratic” are variations of the same thing, the same, each competing to be more Russophobic and Sinophobic than the other. Nor can you can get ahead in the Media unless you can genuflect to the high authority of those own the media and recite their version. The same applies in academia, although some room is made for heretics, who may still be burnt at the stake. Everybody likes a bonfire.
The creed?
I believe in the Dark Forces, destroyers of heaven and earth, freedom and democracy, and the ill begotten Son of Evil --Vladimir Putin, the spirit of all that is Unholy.
Special Article Putin 4
This is about one-third of the introductory section of my special article on Putin (4) focusing on Putin as a man, essential to understanding his policies and decisions. It will probably change ….LOL.
This last article will round out the previous three, which together have been a major undertaking: they really comprise a full book.
Please help me meet my end of the month expenses, which will increase as a result of a new owner for my apartment building.

Timothy Snyder is reported to be fleeing the USA and taking refuge at the University of Toronto. Even if it's just U of T, I have to wonder what we did to deserve this. He seems slightly unhinged on the topics of Vladimir Putin and modern Russia.
