> You might think that being able to read nonverbal cues more accurately than others is an advantage – but it can be a handicap in structured social environments where people want to hide their real feelings and thoughts. And, of course, enhanced empathy can be emotionally painful.
Very true.
Especially in light of the all-pervasive fakery and pretense described earlier.
Being confronted with the contradiction between people's words and outward behavior on one hand and the nonverbal clues on the other is confusing to say the least. And it takes quite a toll in the long term. Not sure if I would even go so far to call it a curse.
I'm blown away by your insights! I think you describe the Western mentality/hubris quite well. And the competitiveness/individualism streak that dominates everything American. Putin sounds intelligent and rational in his interview because he IS intelligent and rational, especially when compared to Sleepy-Creepy-Genocide Joe. Knowing you're living in the country that's on the wrong side of history hurts... Will they let individuals join BRICS I wonder?
Great post Julian. Your take on Dunning-Kruger was quite enlightening. When you talk of Asian culture in comparison to the west, i often wish I resided there. The lie-to-win mentality and the cognitive dissonance that accompanies it, I see that all the time.
Of course, I'm making generalizations. Asian cultures vary. And there are always downsides. Japan for example is ethnically homogeneous; whereas China is ethnically heterogeneous. Japan's homogeneity can make groupthink a problem.
Watching President Putin speak is ALWAYS enjoyable and educational, and induces me to mourn the lack of honesty & intellect in my country (USA). I would like to know what were in the papers given to Tucker Carlson in that folder by President Putin - any way for us to find out?
It is still the "City of London". The USA is just thier big dumb brother. More dollares are traded in London than in the US. It is important to identify the actual enemy.
I like that you dropped this truth bomb with such clarity:
“ The Empire of Lies is in the process of destroying itself— and all the allies that serve it.”
This has amazed me. The current mindset has extended win-lose into such a reductive cycle that any weakening of anyone or anything that is not them must strengthen them. That includes the home population! Generations of this modus operandi has finally created a generation of insular psychopathic leaders who don’t recognize the paradox anymore.
A failed EU continent at the collapse of empire at least has the option of joining the East’s SCO. The UK, though, may well be isolated, feet dangling in the Atlantic muttering to themselves about regaining their lost empire blaming Russia to while away the hours. They might have thought of that before impulsively endeavoring to destroy Russia with USA brawn as a tool. Brawn has a way of becoming the brain. So here we are.
You're very welcome. I'm not sure how amazing this article is actually. Personally, I think is just common sense stuff. The US of course has planned for Europe what it originally intended for Russia .
Brilliant article. I believe that every political an economic problem in the world is just a projection of those with (sometimes) unrecognized psychological trauma. Gabor Mate’s books look at this trauma mainly through the eyes of addiction issues.
Maybe empires tend to last only 250 years because the cumulative trauma reaches a breaking point after so many generations.
Personally I think the problem is that human beings did not evolve to live in large, hierarchical societies – so-called dominance-- societies. But I think that is a topic for another article.
Good day for everybody! Congratulations on your article. Full of truths and very well exposed! Getting better by the week!
I would like to know more about the domestic fox. We have quire a few fox around here, just ask my chickens!
Insightful article with good points!
Great article again !

Probably not any way to find out until Carlson comments-- which is likely to do.

Thank you for recommending this. It's an interesting article and provide an in-depth view of the psychological mechanisms of classical narcissism.
