Okinawa is typically used as some sort of data point for veganism. Take today's longevity numbers and fold it into nutrition data from 1949, immediately after the war when the pork population had been decimated such that the diet was predominantly yams.
The seafood argument is certainly possible. From what I've read its the pork they eat loads of.... simply because there are 2-3 pigs for every person on Okinawa. Actually, on this note, sounds like an okay place to retire.
