Let's all get a bomb!
Going Nuclear!
The US has given Russia a huge gift. No, I am not talking about sanctions, which helped Putin reinvent Russia to develop new markets and new industries, making the country great again.
I am not talking about the US attempt at a proxy war in Ukraine which led to Russia becoming the world’s second most powerful military power behind the US and ahead of China— if you think in conventional terms, counting foreign bases and global force projection —or if you think in simpler terms like “who wins if we come to blows” - which means China is first and the US, third.
No, I am talking about nuclear weapons. START expired Feb. 6.
The US is (apparently) not interested in a new START Treaty. Maybe because Russia is clearly No. 1—already a generation ahead in nuclear weapons, delivery systems, and defenses. So the US wants to catch up.
But that day has passed. The US no longer has the industrial capacity nor the technological capability. By the time it gets to where Russia is now, Russia will be even further ahead. China also.
This shakes up the “world order”.
Although the Nuke Club used to be VERY exclusive, now, anybody can get in. There are no rules anymore. Uncle Donald says so.
The expiry of the START treaty was accompanied by American insouciance—” “If it Expires, it Expires” said Trump.
With the collapse of START, the world’s largest nuclear arsenals are operating without effective verification or limits which creates a “nuclear blind spot” encouraging presently non-nuclear nations to re-evaluate their options. So much for the NPT! Take it or leave it. Maybe leave it.
The US doesn’t care, except for Iran - which has religious objections to all weapons of mass destruction. With Iran, the possibility of it going nuclear - which it could have done a long time ago—is just an excuse.
This is Broken Windows Theory on an international scale.
Everybody in the neighbourhood has a nuke it seems.
Israel has nukes. Pakistan has them. India. North Korea.
Japan should possess nuclear weapons, given the severe surrounding security environment and the questionable reliability of the U.S. nuclear deterrent, an official who advises Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi on security policy said.
With START gone, is the NPT really next?
Trump has obvious disdain for treaties, agreements, international law - responding to a higher morality— that is, his wallet which he keeps next to his heart. It’s the only thing he really loves.
So how about Canada? Or Mexico? Or Brazil? It doesn’t change the fact that Russia maintains an enormous lead in delivery systems and anti-missile defenses.
The US can never surpass it.
Let us remember that a regional nuclear war such as between India and Pakistan with exchange of just 200 nuclear weapons could cause a nuclear winter, climate change, famine and kill up to two billion people.
Be the first on your block to get a nuke.
Chappy’s brother?
The shelter that rescued Chappy has received a cat from the same guy who found Chappy — from the same place — same age—and also with a leg injury. He doesn’t look like Chappy in shape or marking although that happens in litters of mixed breed kittens— but he has those green eyes. He is very human friendly I wish I could take him in —but I don’t have space.
In the meantime, please support us at News Forensics — Drs. Chappy and Ichi and their clueless assistant Julian.

And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth. And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: and he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.
- Luke 12:15-21
Hmm, true to some extend, but over simplistic :) This one is a read more for an amusement, and to provoke feelings and thoughts, than an analytic article. But nvm, it`s one potential way of development. I personally prefer more in depth approach. +1 though :)
