My wife and I, we are not well-off. Myself? Due to chronic illness, I am unable to work and receive a pension below the poverty line. Unfortunately, I cannot support you, Julian. Friends? True friends? The person who has the rare fortune of having such people around him is an extremely rich man. You surely understand what I mean by that.

On Friday, in the late afternoon, my wife and I each bought ourselves a delicious ice cream at the ice cream parlor. As we were eating it, my wife spotted an old, very poor, mentally ill, but harmless man sitting alone on a stone bench. My wife pulled me by the arm over to him and asked him whether he would also like to eat an ice cream. She wanted to treat him to an ice cream. The poor old man looked at her with wide-open eyes, speechless. All people avoid him because he is mentally ill and always wanders around alone in the same dirty clothes. He could only answer, frightened, completely surprised and stuttering: "Yes." So my wife bought him a delicious ice cream and handed it to him with a smile. As we left him, my wife said to me that she is now very happy. I replied to her that she is so happy because she has just given herself a beautiful gift.

That is a lovely thing. And you are lucky to be married to someone like that. Thank you for that story.

I fully agree with you Julian.

In some way, together we follow the trail of Fate.

Just saying.

Julian, I tried x3 today to send you a one year subscription. Three times I tried, but despite typing all the right info I was rejected because, apparently, your service believed i am a bot. I assure you, I’m not a bot, but despite going back and forth from spam where I get your emails and my inbox and typing in the number sent my inbox I’m told that is an incorrect number, Mercy. Apparently the first attempt was sent to an old phone # you have recorded for me. I have no cell phone and refuse to have one. Then I check Send to my email. x2 and again the # that was sent to my email was refused.

Life is now full of institutional mistrust and imperfect solutions. Can you send me a mailing address to which I can at least send you a check? Your blogs are prodigiously productive, informative, and appreciated. Thank you. Respectfully, Bob

So sane a view on the stranger .

Your opening poem authored by the universe so beautiful.

You’ll notice those who fear the stranger never make good life choices inviting misery forever.
