Pussy Riot raking in the cash
Mediazona is a Russian media outlet started by the cofounders of Pussy Riot—Maria Alyokhina and Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, after they got to prison a month or so short of completing their two year hooliganism sentencse as a result of an amnesty for their antics in a Russian church.
Remember what happened to the much less offensive protesters in Washington as a result of their unauthorized tour of the Capitol building!
These Pussy Riot people got off easy.
Afterwards, they founded Mediazona — which was unabashedly anti-Putin— while initially just conforming enough to Russian law. It still was still initually categorized as to get by as a “foreign agent”—just like RT in the US.
Both Maria Alyokhina and Nadezhda Tolokonnikova now live outside of Russia.
Up until now,Mediazona’s calculations of Russian casualties have been a little on the high side, say, 20%, relying on statistical manipulations, rumors from the Russian blogosphere, and push from Western agencies— which means of course the propaganda services.
Mediazona had to compromise because it was just really, really hard to inflate Russian casualties, targeting the Russian public—which already had pretty good idea of the numbers - just a tenth the KIA of the Ukrainians.
Of course, thjat was when the organization was still focused on influencing Russians who, these days, are less and less interested in what Mediazona has to say .
This week however, the organization revised their figures increasing their estimates of Russian casualties to conform — more or less— to overblown and exaggerated Western claims that Russia is losing a lot more men killed in action then it admits to.

I won’t go into Simplicious’ criticisms of Mediazona’s very iffy methodologies but. suffice it to say, these new figures are much higher than they should be—just like Mediazona‘s bank accounts in England— which reflect the fact that the organization is writing articles less and less for the Russian public and more and more for the Western public — the BBC, the Guardian, the Economist— all the usual suspects. Big money in that.
Estimates of the wealth of Mediazona’s executives, like that of Zelensky, are hard to confirm. Let's just say they're rich!

Years ago, some time before their antics in the Orthodox cathedral, they were interviewed via satellite by Charlie Rose on his PBS program. Generally an anti Putin tantrum. At that point I knew they were another western funded op. To his credit, Charlie seemed ill at ease with the interview. They seemed unhinged even to him.
