Excellent commentary and history. A small typo about founding of KGB perhaps. One year after Stalin's death makes it 1954 not 1964 I believe.
Your views are unique in that they are detailed and often use intuition, which later turns out to be supported by facts.
Seventeen moments of Spring is one of my favorite films about the war. In a way, such films lead to Sokurov and his refreshingly non-vaudevillian view of Nazi Germany and The Great Patriotic War.
Compared to the slop served up by Jewish Hollywood and Jewish England about the war, the films are a university course in the mood, psychiatric reality and the facts of the day.
No one has come to closer to recording modern history accurately than the USSR and Russia now, most of the time, rises to the occasion as well.
And in case you prefer subtle slapstick comedy, check out the master of that genre - a Russian as well - Jacques Tati [schev] - in other words, born Tatischev.
Oh, and by the way, Helen Mirren, that consummate high-born Englishwoman/actress who almost humanized the Queen of England, is Russian as well.
Probably just a slip of the finger, but Stalin died in 1953, which would have deprived the world of Kruschev, but would likely have made the Cuban Missile Crisis more interesting.
I can’t imagine that these corrupt buffoons in Brussels, Berlin, Paris and London will ever come to their senses. The Balts are completely over the top and utterly hysterical. They need a lesson so that they stick to the rules again and strictly prohibit the fascists and their NATO accomplices from flying over their countries, because otherwise, as parties to the war, they’ll have only themselves to blame if these drones fall from the sky onto their heads. It is these notorious, impertinent lies from these Europeans that really risk unseating Putin and causing someone to lose patience with the antics of these EU bunglers.
A very good concise article, although, I'm more than curious as to this: "The USSR was only too aware that it had narrowly avoided nuclear strikes by stealing technology from the US to create its own nuclear deterrent." The US dropped atomic bombs on a defeated Japan, why? A demonstration for the USSR! For the Russians and their survival: what to do? Develop nuclear weapons as a deterrent, which you seem to be okay with, as I read this. And here's my point: Why is this wrong for Iran to do as the Russians did to maintain their autonomy. Now, in the future the world will move away from fossil fuels (I truly believe that Biofuels will be humankind's salvation) as the world has come to understand that alternatives are needed for this to not happen again. Thus, Iran could be vulnerable to the West as The USofA never forgets nor forgives.
The cat and the crocodile live in symbiosis. Although the crocodile (Russia) is less dependent on the cat (Europe). If only the cat would understand. It normally would, but this particular one has a parasite that is destroying the brain.
My question is why won't Putin give the Russian military free reign in Ukraine?
There are tons of military & dual use targets in Ukraine, that if destroyed would make it near impossible for UkroNATO to continue this proxy war.
I understand Russia was not ready to do this in the first 2 or 3 years of this war, but they have been for the past year or 2.
Just yesterday a massive fuel depot near Zaporizhia was struck with 1 drone.
Why was this depot allowed to exist this long? Why 1 drone that only damaged part of this facility?
Why are roads & highways from Europe still open?
Why is the electricity still on in Ukraine.
They did severe damage to it in the middle of this past winter- when actual citizens suffered the worst. Why not shut the electricity totally off in May when people won't freeze to death. Without electricity UkroNATO would be screwed and Russia could finish them off in months at most, and have time to patch the grid before winter returned. These are just some examples of the vacillations of Putin that is prolonging this conflict and causing suffering in both Russia and Ukraine.
If you break it you gotta fix it. Ukraine will eventually become part of the RF or the Union (like Belarus). The Russians employed massive force in Chechnya but only solved the Chechen problem by co-opting Chechens like Kadyrov. Massive force" -- means massive casualties . Electricity is not "still on" in Ukraine, At least , not as it was. Russians are complaining about the Putin's moderation -- but it is strategic. A long, slow war allows him to "evolutionize" Russia while Europe commits social and economic suicide.
I think many of us are wondering why Russia is fighting this conflict in a half-arsed way. In addition, the RF has emboldened European states, by allowing them to launch missiles and drones into Russia proper, without any consequences for them - thus, they are happy to keep doing it. Unthinkable back in 2022.
Julian, another much needed article! (However, there is a typo: You state that the KGB was formed in 1964, whereas it was created in March 13, 1954).
Stay in the ring, dear brother.
Fixed it!
Oh, yes, thank you -- I will fix it!

Very interesting read

Many thanks for the hard and necessary work ! There is a typo in the 6th paragraph: "people as Putinm One".
Thanks for the historical background to understand today . You are credible .
Europe "humiliates" Russia :-)

I think Russia is the cat. Europe is a crocodile, hiding in the slime.
In both cases it is an insult to the animal that represents the Europeans
