The worst kind of stupidity is Spiritual Stupidity. It operates much of world policy and influences the thinking of vast tracts of hoi polloi. Its top adherents have great power to corrupt individuals, systems and institutions. They corrupt others, fuck up the evolution of world systems, and likely even terminate their own enduring existence. As the owner and boss of this local schoolhouse is said to have said when He dropped by for a visit, “What profit a man if he should gain the whole world and lose his immortal soul?” He also commented to a certain religious institution saying “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to win a single convert, and when you have succeeded, you make them twice as much a child of hell as you are.” They killed the Boss for that and other things He said and their adherents hate him to this day. But the Boss ain't dead and the game ain't over.
Oh no stupidity is rampant - this is an epidemic, a plague. There's no cure. I fully understand the theory behind depopulation - that is not to say I agree and merely when you see such ubiquitous narcissism and total worthlessness, I can certainly appreciate the reasoning. Cell phones and social media became the pinnacle of ignorance but television was the pioneer.
Where else can an entire human society stand idlily by and do nothing about Gaza but rather have become so inconceivably and incredulously self consumed with themselves? It took a great man of unimaginable integrity and consciousness, unwavering morals, values and ethical principles to set himself on fire outside the front gate of the Embassy of Israel.
There is a consistency of behavior across American elites which I don’t think is random — and I don’t think it’s stupidity that is the driver.
You mention the factor in passing only. For me, the only persistent factor is immorality.
Exemplified by killing innocents. While we don’t know what someone like Lindsay Graham does in private, I have no doubt that he would support killing people in their own country. And this would be true for most of our elected politicians. Intelligence has nothing to do with it, as very few morons are psychopaths.
Psychopaths, at least the smart ones, need morons to prey upon, manipulate, and set up as fall guys. It's another layer: someone to take the blame when and if the manure hits the fan. Think of a Zelensky, for example: he isn't even in charge of his own underwear but he will be the one to face the consequences of the failed Ukraine operation.
Protected until he can still be useful, then he'll be tossed into a shallow grave before he can say "but". That's what happened to most other Western "assets", the very instant they stop being profitable to use, even as meat shields to get the blame, they're heading for an "accident" or a "sudden illness". Look at Navalny, Litvinenko, heck, Osama Bin Laden and Saddam Hussein! Or to a minor figure in the Euromaidan regime change that has stuck with me: you may have heard of a Sashko Bilyi (i'm not sure I got the name right though), one of the nastiest neo-Nazi thugs in Ukraine, did a lot of dirty work for the Maidan org, was found dead a few days after the coup. Officially, he shot himself. How did he manage, since he was tied with hands and legs behind his back, gagged and with a huge hole in his gut, remains a mystery.
Cooperating heads of state are different. They are granted asylum, live in gated compounds, and undergo identity change. Can’t mention names, but I know two families — one Asian, one Latin American.
Well... i am Anarchistic, i ignore Authority and since about my age of 4 i left all boxes behind and i try to circumvent any box that tries to block my way.
When i ignore Narratives and words or concepts that feel unnatural, i live more or less in the wordless reality. When i am among people, most of them seem to me unnatural, closing their eyes for terrible things and ignoring muted cries for help. And somehow they are so busy with their wordgames, that they don't feel what happens meanwhile...
So i decided to become a hermitess, with my PC and 4K 44" inch UltraWide Monitor as a Window on the Whole Universe. And i am fighting Evil where i sense it, by pointing it out.
Ow... I love Music. Without words. Symphonic music and Minimal Music:
Trump is dumber than a sidewalk - if he had two living brain cells they would kill each other.
The sad fact of the matter is Joe Biden is actually more mentally cognitive than Trump is. What I don't understand is the coverup. Hellen Keller could see how intellectually disabled he is. On the other hand, when people say and think he's intelligent it only shows you they're actually even more stupid than he is, which is even more frightening. I get the feeling the weight of stupidity on this entire planet, will cause us to fall off the universe.
I could barely see that the word stupidity may benefit from a different one at various points of your article. While it remains applicable according to your scale.
I still get your point and your article is flowing and understandable. I find it true than to bring back things to "stupidity", but, under the surface, are actually different things than "stupidity".
Is it "pathological acceptance" - or "bad choice" that would be a match?
I wanted to mention the transition with the school allegory which in my opinion reflects something sane and positive. It becomes not that suitable to bind stupidity - in this case the "stupidity" becomes a virtue.
Like a "love bet", that people would make - "trusting the system" - in order to head towards a positive common goal. I believe that this is a spec of human gathering together and that at some point we simply need to trust blindly in order to grow and remain together.
It would be wrong than to discredit a virtue - still, we have been made to trust nobody out there and remain cautious of everybody and everything as a principle - just because it practically triggers less damage (!).
It seems to me that one key point is that the above blind allegiance fails when the structure is corrupted, which is bugging as it fails positive efforts. It fails normal people blindly doing efforts and it fails a society which could be an empty shell, initially dedicated for good efforts.
I've been onto this subject for a while now, much to the bemusement (and understanding of a few) friends. Thanks for bringing it up Julian. I think this is the overiding concern throughout western society in general and now infects the entire ruling cabal. It's infuriating. Institutional stupidity affects dumb and intelligent people alike. I put it as " people would rather accept the comfortable lie, than the uncomfortable truth"
Trump will fail us because he's an amoral warrior in a moral fight. Putin has served his people well because he is a moral warrior in a moral fight.
Happy birthday Ichi and Chappy🥰🥳🤗
"I know a lot about being stupid, having made almost every mistake known to mankind. So I feel qualified to opine on this subject."
I have been on that imbecile train myself!
Me too! Lol.

Absolutely true. And there is no more perfect an example of this than someone like Trump.
I"m at that stage where I simply hope to survive the current murican, reign of stupidity.

Agreed except about Z — his entire presence (from fringe leather entertainer to president) seems orchestrated from on high, and hence protected.

You missed out "Typical American Arrogance & Ignorance Stupidity" Julian

Trump is stupider than stupid. In fact, just calling him stupid is an insult to stupidity in general. And stupid is dangerous.
Trump is dumber than a sidewalk - if he had two living brain cells they would kill each other.

As William Blake suggested, "If the fool would persist in his folly he would become wise".
Maybe. Some people in the public eye seem to be giving it the good old college try.
Another fine Blakeism:
"Always be ready to speak your mind,
and a base man will avoid you".
Worth beating in mind on Substack.
Hello,
Great article!
I would tend to refine the word stupidity
I could barely see that the word stupidity may benefit from a different one at various points of your article. While it remains applicable according to your scale.

This is your best and most insightful (public) article in a while, Julian. Very good stuff.
