I have noticed that in both the western and Ukrainian press (English language) they have ignored the ominous warnings and promises that Putin gave in his speech at the parade and at the presser later that day. Do they think the Russians are bluffing?
I keep saying, for years, that nobody - of any assumed, so called 'importance' - in the West listens to what Putin says, or, if they, do they do not hear (a la, "Let him who has ears....").
Putin, to my mind, speaks simply, plainly, in language a child could understand (unlike myself!) and explains himself, often at great length. The message has not changed in twenty-five years yet, no matter how often repeated, they cannot comprehend.
Put simply, It is a deep rooted, psychological flaw exhibited as projection; they cannot hear because Putin must be as dishonest, disingenuous, deceptive, and adversarial as they are; that Putin, and indeed any so called 'enemy', is as stuck in the same infantile, or malformed, state of development as they; driven by the same primitive, uncontrolled urges as they.

IMHO Putin and his team are hard-nosed realists who soberly analyze the Correlation of Forces and Means. I have been a conscious supporter of national liberation movements since the mid-70s and I am aware of countless struggles which have been lost by adventurism and wishful thinking by leaders, governments and movements who under-estimated the strength of western imperialism and over-estimated their possibilities when faced with the military and economic might of the Combined West.
